"Phone recovery" issue.

"Phone recovery" issue.

Here's how I solve this problem. I notice two sounds of a device usb turn on and off, and then this "Phone recovery" screen shows up. Then I opened the "device manager" (see over the internet how to open this... cause my english "sucks" - lol), and I noticed that was 1 device with a ! , click with right b, update drivers, "...windows update..." = no, "automaticaly install/search drivers" = yes. Then shows up another ! device, you should do the same steps above. After this the update software should give 1 step ahead... then, again, another error... go over "device manager" again, look for other device with !... update driver, etc.. (could 'recognise' a n95 phone, it's ok)... another !... do it again... click Retry over update software.. and you should se the upgrade going on.

(sorry for this english, but this solved for me

"Phone Recovery"phase

Sir,

I need your help. When I tried to update my N82 to the latest firmware I reached the "Phone Recovery"phase that tells me to remove the battery and return it and turn on the mobile by pressing the power key for a few seconds. I did that, but it's not turning on and I was able to update my mobile to the latest firmware. What should I do? or did I miss something?

Accelerometer issues

It seems they f***ed up the automatic screen rotation. It is now way too sensitive on my N82 :/

yade I love how these threads always end up being moans from other mobile users about not getting updates....I was exactly the same with the N82 and now I am very happy

Just a couple of little things I thought might have been taken from the N95 range. Landscape on standby and 270 degree rotation still dont seem possible on this version.

I notice a few people mentioning that they could activate navi-wheel in software but I am unsure if the final HW build has that build in. I personally would like to have it if possible even if it is just a gimmick!

I have notice my phone is running a fair bit quicker and UDP is fantastic, not 1 application of the countless number I have installed has disappeared. All of my contacts, call log and messages all in tact too.

Thankyou Nokia....about bloody time

Unregistered @ Unreg:

Its probably a Vista issue - you may get "host app stopped responding" and need to update with an XP machine. If after say 45 mins it has not moved, close the updater with taskman, and retry or use an XP machine.

Thanks for the quick reply. So it's just a bit larger than the previous update. I'm going to update mine tomorrow as I'm reading a whole host of reports confirming the fact that the service is a tad congested now.

Im Nervous too!

its about 105 mb update. Im in process of doing my update and its taking longer than it should be. I started the update about half hour ago, and its been stuck on "15 mins remaining for about the past 20 mins".....another nervous updater here.

amirsol I'm interested in knowing how big this new firmware release is. The last N82 firmware update was 98.4MB. It would be good to know the size before initiating the updating task.

Cmon Now!

@ "Unregistered":
have you thought about the fact that the N95-1 had been released almost year before the N95-3 came out? Maybe, just maybe all the firmware updates for the N95-1 was to catch it up to the firmware that came preloaded with the N95-3. I mean the just because Nokia comes out with a couple updates for the N95-1, it doesnt mean the N95-3 loses its value. I have tried the N95-1 with the firmware updates....and I still prefer my N95-3. Sometimes common sense escapes common people.

Yeah, sure....

Had a good laugh at the guy who said N93 would see a firmware upgrade.

I was one of the first to get an N93 in this part of Thailand (Day 1) and loved the thing ... for a while. When the "i" came out so soon after the original, I knew I was screwed. I spend $700 on a flagship phone and was totally abandoned by Nokia. It was criminal how they just blew off the users who made the investment in, in hindsight, was a very cutting edge phone that, even today, has better sound recording, better video and better 3D graphics than the current 3rd Gen N series phones.

I had decided to give uyp on Nokia after that and jump to Sony for the K850i, as my main beef with the N93 was its HORRIBLE still camera performance and that crappy LED flash. (The main reason i didn't get an N95 was the LED flash, as well.)

The Sony took forever to come out over here and by the time it was ready to, the N82 landed on the scene. Some online comparisons showed the pix were better than the Sony and so I gave Nokia one more chance.

I'm thrilled to say I LOVE the 82 and no matter what all the 95 fanboys try to tell me, the 82 is a better phone. Better phone, better size, and better camera, thanks to the Xenon flash.

ANd now 2 firmware upgrades already (although the first one got botched and I lost my Panoman app!)

Downloading now. Hope all goes better.

Unregistered I don't think anyone expects Nokia to come out with a new firmware just because they went and bought a Nokia phone, however we do expect some moderately equal service compared to our european firends. This has not been the case...Nokia has release 3 firmware updates for the n95-1 & n95-2 in the past 6 months...how many have us n95-3 users seen? NONE...ZERO...ZILCH so what are the n95-3 users supposed to think?

Is it Tuesday or Idiotday?

I love it how people always try to point the finger when they are idiots. @ "unregistered", youre pissed off at the manufacturer (Nokia) because you went out and bought a $600 phone without doing research. I have the N95-3 and it is head and shoulders above any other phone, with or without a new firmware upgrade. Also, maybe if you had some patience, you wouldnt look like such a moron. What? you expect Nokia to come out with a firmware update right away just because YOU went out and bought the phone? I hope you dont change your mind and decide on getting the N95 again, I wouldnt want people to think idiots use the N95.

N95-3 - full refund

I bought a N95-3 last week... had it a few days only to find little to no evidence that it will ever be updated. Realizing i made a mistake, I called the supplier (a large US chain) and have feigned that the product was defective, though it works fine. I've gotten a full refund and now they are stuck with either dumping or reselling it. This is bad for Nokia and the supplier but this is how I screw you back when you screw me. When I make a $600 investment, I don't expect to be left out in the cold while older and cheaper devices get all the love.

Hope Nokia takes the North American market seriously some day.
