bartmanekul 16GB cards are available that will work with the 6210N, as well as 2, 4 and 8.

Make sure you buy sandisk, as these are the most reliable.

SatNav on 6210

Just got the 6210 (Navgator) from Vodafone.
Initially I am extremely impressed with the GPS. Quite quick and the accelerometer makes walking use a breeze.
However, I was very disappointed to see that the 'Vodafone Find & Go' application requires a licence (only a 3-month trial is provided). This is the thing that provides the voice prompts and turn by turn instructions. So after the trial period you either have to stump up £5 a month (expensive long term) or just live with the map positioning and route planning available with Nokia Maps (all maps for UK and Ireland are on the memory card with the phone).
This all makes in-car navigation very restricted and Vodafone didn't even provide a windscreen mount which is more expense.

Exactly what Im annoyed about.

If I were you Id wait for the E series announcement. Theres possibly a phone in there that has

3.2 cam.

Wifi

GPS

Slim form factor.

Really missed a trick by not adding wifi to the 6210.

Which is more important than it seems.

First that nokia have always been lax in releasing accesorries (6 months for the car holder for the 6110).

Second, it will be designed to charge from the car holder.

And its advertising the fact it uses the accelerometer for a compass and orientation. Very useful when walking, as GPS often doesnt know which direction your facing.

Id like to know if thats 6210 specific, or nokia maps specific. For example, would the N95's and N82 be able to use this compass?

Oh, and dont forget, with the maps subscription, assuming its 3 years or more, thats already a £50 saving over another nokia GPS phone.

One thing Id like to know. The nokia maps license you get with the new navigator - is it tied to the phone, or the sim as the new maps are supposed to be?
Thanks for those points. I've never had a Navigator so, really cant speak from experience, it just seemed a little pointless as all the others have Nokia Maps on now as well.

The 6110 has never sold in great numbers, so I doubt the 6210 will either, I suppose because mainstream satnav is seen by the masses as TomTom etc that you get from Halfrauds.

It's a nice looking device though, and if it had Wifi, would put it on my list. It sadly doesn't though, so is no good for me.

Steve_R I'm struggling to see how this can now be called the 'Navigator' seeing as it just has the same Nokia Maps that all other GPS enabled devices have? Granted it has the navigation bit already activated, but still, come on?

It looks great, but I'm not really sure who would buy it over any other Nokia GPS phone......

bartmanekul Yes, sadly no wifi, which is why Im hoping theres an annoucment for the E series. Supposedly theres one codenamed 'Dora' coming out. Which has GPS, wifi, and a 3.2mp camera.

As it stands though, the 6210 navi will be my next phone, Im hoping its out before Q3 though.

Upgraded E65

Compared to the popular and much liked E65. (similar size and presumable cheaper as its not a E series.)
This has better camera + flash, GPS, Accelerometer.
Though it does seem to lack wi-fi ?

bartmanekul Ive found route66 to be nothing but nastyness.

First off, its not good enough, routes are way out, and some are just unbeleivable.

Then theres the 'turn slightly left/right' instructions which can make you do a wrong turn.

And any problems?

Nokia - its route66's problem

Route66 - its nokias problem

Personally, Im glad they have moved from route66. Im buying the phone purely for the hardware and OS, not any satnav bundled with it. If its good enough, I'll use it. But Im not counting on it. And unless nokia give a year or more free with nokia maps, its too pricey compared to other satnavs.

I was going to go for the 6220 classic as it has GPS, but theres the following issues:

Is it just the new navigator which will contain the compass which uses the accelerometer?

Presumably, the 6220 classic wont have a custom car mount. Which means, no charging when you put it into a cradle, instead having to plug in using a lead.

I shall probably get the 6210, the car cradle and compass being the winning points for me, replacing my much loved 6110 (running garmin, among other satnav programs).

I would like to know if the 6120's camera (3.2mp) will have a macro function?

Also, its claimed on one website that -

Local maps are pre-loaded on the 1GB memory card of the Nokia 6210 Navigator and map updates are included in the sales price.
For an additional fee, users can purchase multimedia city guides from premium content providers via Nokia Maps application

I dont know if that means theres some navigation given with it free or not.

Ratkat I'd be happy if Nokia would just fix the latest UK 6110

Due to an internal cock-up the latest ones left the factory with updated 2007 Route 66 maps but with the 2006 licence.

Hence they don't work, Nokia say "take it to your local service centre, they will fix it, tell them to read the service bulletin about this issue", the local service centre say, "yes we have read the service bulletin, but Nokia have not released the 2007 licence to service centres, until they do we can't fix it"

one month on, my 6110 still can't use it Route 66 navigation.

Totally crap service from Nokia on this occasion.

Nice

I love the new Nokia look and feel...apart from screen resolution they're really doing some great products now. This little navigator looks great.

krisse Yeah, I preferred Route 66 when I tested the 6110.

However I think Nokia's strategy at the moment is to use their own online services on their phones.

nj7 If it comes with Route66 like 6110, it gone be a good purchase, like 6110.
