Maps 2.0 - now almost useless
I am quite sure I am not the only one that thinks the upgrade 2.0 for maps has made the program work better - but also made it essentially useless.
We all need to complain to Nokia. We spent so much money on these phones with gps and maps, and now they take the key feature away.
My conspiracy mind tells me that Google or someone got to them and said, we'll pay you for deleting the feature that will make people pay us for our product. So they did.
It was the most important feature on maps, and one of the key features that made me purchase the phone in the first place. I am now carrying a device with one less feature, making it less valuable and me less likely to continue using it. I may move to another company's product that does what they say. Nokia sold this phone on this feature - now they have removed it, that is almost fraud.

You plug your phone in and use PC Suite to back up your messages, calendar, user files, gallery and settings.

Yes you will have to reinstall your applications once you've updated the firmware but the phone should remember some applications depending on the developer.

To all the nokia users, whining about loosing their data, or they have to change default setting to whatever setting they had before the upgrade.....Why the hell didn't you use the backup/restore feature in Nokia PC Suite????
-backed everything up here; upgraded; restored data + settings a.s.o. Works fine. It's a bit faster now. But haven't tested to the fullest yet.
Btw. anyone worked out how to download torrent files? Still got "not supported" in the internal browser and in Opera.

I am pretty much ready to update my 3 branded N95, although I would like to know if it is possible to get "Planet 3" back on once the update is completed? I know a lot of people find this useless and look forward to removing all the network crap but I use a lot of 3's services and features for example unlimited useage of MSN Messenger and potentially Skype and also 3's themes are okay (don't use them but would like to know I have the option)
Am I completely barking up the wrong tree if I want to keep these 3 features? Really want to try the v20 firmware though! Would a complete backup in PC Suite back up these features?
If anyone has any advice to help would be great.
Thanks!

T-Mobile says NO new software
After the usual stock reply from a non-english speaking customer support person at T-Mobile (who even got the T-mobile website address link wrong in his reply) that told me nothing at all and sent me back to where I started I sent a reply asking for an answer.
I asked when the version 20 software is going to be available for T-Mobile customers. I was surprised but I actually got an answer from another support person who has a poor grasp of english but they did give me what appears to be a definitive answer!
"I'm sorry to inform you that the new software version 20 will not be available for T-Mobile handsets. There are no plans to release this software."
So, anyone who like me took out an 18 month contract to T-Mobile UK with this handset is stuck with the crap version software as they are not even going to give you the chance to get the fixed version!
Great customer service. Now a choice, do I invalidate my warranty and risk having a very expensive paperweight, or leave it on the slow, resource-hogging software it came with because T-Mobile will not approve the version 20?
Heads up anyone thinking of buying a N95 then, maybe you better pick another network.

N95 firm-where?
I'd like to know who the NMP project lead was who approved the N95 release (a USD $ 500+ handset unlocked) with the original firmware that sucks up 30 MB of RAM?

I've updated my N95 (O2-UK) to v20.blah.
It all feels nicer now. Good to see the multimedia key bug has been fixed (previous v 12, key would not work after being recharged until switched on/off)
Would like to know what "Theme Effects" are also, if anyone knows this let us in on the secret.
Also I am glad they have stopped the multimedia menu from automatically starting when n95 is slid landscape.
Another thing I have noticed with Music Player is when you select to view Album Artwork, rather then having a tiny thumbnail the arkwork now takes up the whole screen. It's small, but good to see they have made this slight change.
I'm looking forward to testing out the video ring tones though.
The only problems I have are a few programs have stopped working.
Fring (I may just need to manually reinstall this though.)
For those that are having problems with viewing the n95 in PC Suite. One of the applications has been removed during the update, MMSSync I think its called. If you plug in your N95 and, although it doesn't show up with teh n95 being plugged in, click HELP and Reinstall PC Suite for Phone and there you go.
Rotateme (My applications is showing the n95 acceleromter plugin is no longer there. Good to see a previous commentor has there rotateme working fine)
Conversation (I think I need to reinstall Internet Services Support Package as this is missing from application apps too)
Also I dislike that I cant move my folders around, ie Nokia have moved 'Office' in to 'Applications' but I prefered it in 'Root.' This is a but annoying, although not a put off.
