Good and Bad
Am happy about the following features in the N95 8GB version:
1. Better battery
2. Great RAM
3. Larger screen (does it really make a difference though !! ?)
but unhappy over the following:
1. No camera lens cover
2. Black colour is not all that good. Need more colours. The silver panel on the
old version looks much better in my opinion.
3. No SD memory slot

That´s not what a phone battery should be, but at least there is a new accessorie for that - Nokia Power Pack DC-1
By the way, tell more about P1i... may be better, and at least is more cheap than N95.

A bit late for me...
Fed up with my N80, it put me off the N95 as the battery life was even worse. N80's tiny high resolution screen (whose brightness I kept to a minimum to ensure it didn't run out of power), with low RAM causing the otherwise amazing browser and other apps to close whenever they wanted... So I jumped ship to SE.
My P1i is a shining example of how more RAM helps usability and multitasking (are you listening, Nokia?) benefitting from bug-testing by P990i owners, also very stable. Slimmer, better built and superior battery life than the N95 too.
Nokia seem to cost-cut in very telling places, and it does mar otherwise excellent handsets.

I do like the look of the N81, I think the killer question for those of us long suffering N80 users is (or at least this one in particular), have they vastly improved the battery life?
I'm not sure the N81 is a successor to the N80 - it seems more of a cross between an N95 and an N91 to me with a big of N-gage thrown in.
Will look forward to AAS getting their hands on one for a proper review...

"has anyone noticed the upper part of the N81's screen where there are two buttons? im just wondering because in some pictures its just plain."
Those two buttons are used for gaming. I think they light up when in use, and are dim when not in use.
Here's how they work in gaming mode:

I must be dreaming a N95 with a 8GB flash memory,1200mAh battery, bigger 2.8' screen, attractive redesign black housing and (the best bit) 90mb free RAM!Brilliant work Nokia, let me applaude you.The N95 is the killer phone of 2008 (well until its succesor comes out). The N81 also looks impressive for what it is,but gsmarena says the phone has no Edge (really bad if true) & IR,but has VGA video recording @ 15 fps.Any news on the processor used & free RAM on the N81?And where is the N82 (N73 succesor)?

According to these specs, the screen is exactly the same with the classic N95's screen, except the dimensions, i.e. they are both QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT display with ambient light detector and up to 16 million colors. One is 2.6" and the other is 2.8".
Nokia considers the screen of the N95 8GB as "stunning" and "luminous". Yet I do not see any difference in terms of the visual quality of the screen. It is for sure 2.8" screen is stunning, but it seems that the classic N95 and N95 8GB is very same in terms of being luminous.
Hopefully battery would be in accordance with the specs, because since the screen is bigger, it would deplete the battery more...
There is nothing about the RAM. I wish Nokia improved it!

N95 8Gb - what a waste... same old and boring resolution. I still prefer an N80

I find the mention of up to 100MB confusing; that's presumably the internal disk, not the RAM?
