"Yamigo is a piece of shite."

100% agree with you..

all my msn contacts appear offline.. (i never seen my contacts status)

sometime, i'm online on my cell phone but nobody see me (and messages are lost)

when i received offline messages.. it's not working.. i can't sign-up to msn.. (seem to use an old msn protocol)

when it's working.. it's very cool..
but at this time.. i use HIER.. (Very reliable)

i would like to try packetbox... but when i sign-up i get an email: "BETA TESTING IS CLOSED, PLEASE CHECK BACK BY Q3 FOR THE NEW PLATFORM BETA TEST."

ps: i use N80.. and i tried with nokia 6270 (same issues)

Darla I think I got Yamigo to work flawlessly twice. I'll give it another go though.

nj7 I donīt know "Yamigo"... But for now, Fring is my choice. Do all, and do well. Reliable and easy to use!

Experienced Yamigo is a piece of shite. The last server update was in 2004. SmartVAS has disappeared. It's an illusion that this Wireless Village-whatever will be useable to reach other IM networks.

Unregistered Not at all mate. The lag is only in seconds. U dont feel it!

JuhaN Is it true that there will be at least 2 min (or longer if set so in service preferences) lag when sending or recieving messages? I use IM for conversations and send/recieve several messages per minute when chatting. If I can tolerate few minutes lag I use email instead. Native IM clients as Agile or IM+ get new messages in seconds...

Rafe I've tried using Yamigo a number of times over the years and I've never found it to be very reliable.

An alternative you may want to try is http://www.packetbox.com/

IM's not so bad after all...

In a vote of confidence in S60's built-in IM (Instant Messaging) client, the Symbian Blog bites the bullet, sets it up and finds that it works well with the major IM hosts (Yahoo, ICQ, MSN & AIM). If, like me, you've always assumed you had to go third party, this might be a nice surprise.
