TANKERx I like that bit that says;

"The E62 works on the so-called GSM cellphone standard that's universal in Europe"

Reminds me of Frank Skinner saying that a man came up to him in the street and said "Hey! You're that so-called Frank Skinner aren't you!"

Ermmm, yes?

Rafe I think the fact the E62 does not have Wifi is down to the operators. It would be interesting to see if T-Mobile picks up the E62 or the E61 (if they pick them up at all that is). I suspect the latter given their Wifi network.

Nokia E62

What a shame that Nokia can't offer its E61, or some variant without 3G, but with the WiFi. North America is, arguably, the world hotbed of WiFi. Built in WiFi is a killer app here. And when I say here, I mean (North) America, including Canada.

Buying an unsupported phone in North America, like the E61, is only for the most determined. You're cut off from any kind of official support from Nokia, and get no help from the operators. The complexity of the new E-series does not lend itself well to heavy sales unless it gets into the official, and operater-subsidized and supported, sales channel.
