langdona I just think its going to confuse the general public especially as Series 60 edition 2 and edition 3 are software incompatable. Now we have.

N70 Edition 2
N71 Edition 3
N72 Edition 2
N73 Edition 3

stuclark The N72 looks like a simple restyle of the 6680 / N70, so from the point of view of re-using existing hardware designs, it makes sense to keep it at S60 v2.

langdona I cant think why the N72 is S60 2nd Edition and not 3rd? I thought they would have been phasing out the 2nd edition as fast as possible.

Yep, phone manufacturers tend to often inspire themselves from the competition. But in this case, i doubt that the X2 has been an inspiration for the N73. Both have a fairly common design found in dozens of other phone.

Feature wise, i don't see any feature in the N73 that seems to have been inspired obviously from the X2. The only new features of the N73 not found in many other phones on the market is the 3MP autofocus camera and the flicker integration, none of these were present in the X2.

Anyways, whats this about N-Gage games? I thought none were supporte by the new OS. Is this a new release for the promised inline support on the new s60 handsets?

stuclark Here's an alternative view on the announcement

[Edit:] let's make it clear, this is a bit of fun

nj7 The N93 is a danger for a point - and - shoot DSC! Nokia now, competes with Canon, Fujifilm, Kodak, and others. Is specifications are even better then most of the point - and - shot cameras, because of image stabilization, better battery than the most of DSC and light weigth (when compared with DSC)! And in Video Mode, is a must have, Mpeg4 - VGA - 30fps, also with stabilization... A Phone, a DSC, a Camcorder, and a portable PC... Great Job!

Masamune Am I the only person that saw the N93 comes bundled with an N-Gage game?! It would make an interesting article to see how this could impact on existing users.

stuclark I suspect we'll see these quicker than you think - the N80 was the first S60 v3 phone to market, so was bound to be the one to suffer most delays (I'm ignoring the excuses they made for the N91 here). Hopefully they've now got S60 v3 working properly...

Dr, Who? Loving the looks of the N73 - nice, straight up candybar style. Looks very similar to the SP series of Windows Smartphones...........
Nice balanced functionality.

The N93 sounds like an interesting concept too, my missus would go a bundle on that, if only it was available in 'glossy pink'!

But the release dates? Now lets think, what was the ETA of the N80? September 2005 was it? Anyone want to run a sweep stake on when they will actually appear? I reckon the N93 and N73 in 2007.

stuclark The N73 is going to be the biggest seller of these three - it's aimed right at the forthcoming Walkman offerings from SE, for once trying to equal them on the camera and music front at the same time...
