Presenting part 2 (of 2) in my Support catchup. Thanks to my kind editor at Smartphone Essentials magazine, he's let me republish a truck load of Q&A mini-articles from 2008 and 2009's issues right here on All About Symbian. I've been adding these to our Support section and a summary of the questions in part 2 of my big update is listed below, with links. All part of keeping AAS a definitive resource!

Read on in the full article (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/item/12032_Support_extravaganza-part_2.php).

ok, here is one about my nokia 5800 - when I am traveling round London, I find quite a lot of 'unlocked' wifi spots..

Trouble is, some of these seem to not like(?) my phone('back' button wont work, but 'options' does??)...
Yes, they are 100% or 50% power, 'details' say 'open', etc...
(one was even named 'free wifi access'.. but then I have seen one named 'you have a virus' that made my mate panic!! :con? - must be kids playing....)

Ignore these hotspots. Many will be proxies for selling OpenZone access or similar, others will be malevolent, others will simply not be working as advertised.

Sadly. Stick to places you KNOW have free Wi-Fi and CHECK their access point name before connecting.

And even THEN, be careful about logging into anything confidential over that access point - you never know who may be eavesdropping or doing a 'man in the middle' attack!

I read your answer re databases with some amusement. Half a dozen suitable applications??

Ignoring the handful of password protection programs HanDbase is the only one I know of and that is firmly routed in the days of Palm. Use it and it's like going back ten years or more!

Ever since I switched from my Geofox (remember them?) I have searched desperately but in vain for a decent app to hold my dozens of databases. I have them on HanDbase but because it is such a clunky program I rarely use them. A real shame because they hold a lot of really useful information.

Will you accept "half a dozen applications-which-claim-to-be-suitable-but which-are-in-fact-not-a-patch-on-Psion-Data"?

HanDBase is still the best of the crop, though. There are a few iPhone database apps which might do the trick, though I haven't tried getting data into them 8-)

thanks, slitchfield :icon14:

yes, my 'filterlist' is growing bigger & bigger.... if you know a *simple* way to not display 'locked' ones(with an exception list!), it would make it simpler... :)
