View Full Version : Accepting an untrusted certificate permanently

Hey guys.

My mail server uses SSL but we didn't bother paying to have our certificate "trusted". Whenever I connect using Messaging it asks me to accept the certificate one time only. How can I have it automatically accept a certificate?

Good question.

I was wondering about that as well as the connection prompts that come up when starting an application. In my old Nokia 9300, in the Application manager there was a tab which allowed you to configure the security and connection allowances for each application individually.

Why does S60 5th Edition not have this feature?

I can only guess that it's a Security Enhancement to prevent "zombification."

You will need to get your mail server or your CI server to export its own public certificate (follow the bouncing ball when doing this - into a .CER file). Talk to your admin about this one..

Copy this file into the phone separately and using file manager, double tap it.

Will ask if you wish to enter this certificate and say yes. It should be able to go through from there.

Your cert should be listed under the security option under setup if successful.

Thanks a lot - I'll try that.
