just updated my euro n97 via ota, UI is faster evem with theme transitions on, few icons changed such as fm transmiter and the welcome app, also key lock bug has gone

Going away on businesss for a month later today and I was hoping to get the firmware updated before I head off.

Can anyone who has done an OTA update confirm if the user data preservation works OK? Looks like that will be my only option as I don't fancy voiding my warranty on the N97 (that ribbon cable could get loose!).

I took the plunge too and changed product code. Also did a 7370 format and rebuilt from ground up. First impressions are good: everything seems much smoother and snappier. Also the lock/unlock slider seems to work as it should!:icon14:

I'm fairly sure that currently once you hit 3g you're stuck there... even if 3g signal drops...

Yea just doing the same myself, just to play it safe, you don't know what got left behind by the UK firmware, onboard memory went up to 55mb too

of changing codes to Euro 1 .. I lost Japanese font support .. sigh .. it was a nice exercise though.

Change it back .. wait for the real update .. live without those sites for a while.

The winscard.dll error is the same as I had first time I tried using vista. Running both the key and jaf as administrator solved the issue for me.

Are you using Vista, if so you need version 4 of the key emulator. For some reason version 5 doesn't work!

Word of caution for others:

When installing JAF, don't change the installation directory. Leave the default Program Files/ODEON/JAF. Otherwise, the Emulator won't be able to find/load JAF and you'll need to uninstall/reinstall JAF again.

This game lets you control a Ferrari and drive it really fast. The cars in this game are all Ferrari's, and the different racing modes and your girlfriend makes things very interesting, while the online leaderboard gives the game a competitive edge

you could try holding keys down to see if you can try and fine a 3 kay format, no 1 has found it yet tho but it must exist, if there is a hard foemat via 3 key and boot then im sure all these bricked fones will be ok.

The keylock is much better now. v10 you had to toggle it 3 times. v11, it happens occasionaly (not enough to annoy) and when it does you only toggle twice.

Other fixes aren't obvious. The Images and Videos library updating correctly may be. Besides that its just performance. Clicks go through first try, navigating through menus and finger scrolling on websites are quicker. Video playback is slightly better. Overall good upgrade, a must really. But this is what N97 should've been at launch.

What a palaver. Having paid full retail for SIM free I didn't expect to have to change the product code to get new firmware on the release date!

I'm not business minded, but having seen all the countries that were eligible for the update with their native codes today I'm yet again wondering what Nokia is thinking by leaving the UK out.

Guys! Seriously! We're talking about a couple of days. You're risking bricking your brand new five hundred quid phone cos you cant wait a couple of days for the UK release.

I have myself changed product codes on phones before but only to get rid of stupid operator branding. Just to get a firmware update a few days early seems kinda silly to me. I'll just hang on :-)

On a separate note, just why does the UK version take longer? OK I understand that it needs approval for the local version but if all the other versions got approved for the launch why not the UK one? Anyway, still wouldnt risk bricking my phone!

It doesn't wipe anything. All your files will stay. some one said he had 53 mb after flashing. Then i bought mine, it has 27 mb or something like that.

ok, after flashing v11 fw, nothing changed. still got same amount of free memory.

Ok I installed fw for Russian region and DOT moved to letter X :). Some symbessibols gone, but acessible through Sym buttonn. Most Alt buttons do different thing.

all user data & settings intact. It only updates the system / included application files. :)
