Hi there

I am trying to connect to a wi-fi that is encrypted with WPA. The Omnia HD can see the network but won't conenct. Has anyone managed to connect to a similar network... and if so how did they do it? I'd be greatful for any help!

Many thanks

Elly

The phone was able to connect without password?

The phone is not connected at all. It can see the network but will not connect to it. Any ideas?

And with another Wi-Fi hot spot, it connects?

Oh right I see what you mean. Yes it connects to other networks, so it isn't a problem with the electrical bits (I don't think!)

Now you know itīs not a phone problem. And with that specific router, other devices connect well?

As long as WLAN Security Mode on the phone is set to "WPA/WPA2" it will use TKIP (or AES if it's a network running WPA2+AES) since it's a protocol which is used by WPA.

If you set it to "WPA2 only" it will only allow AES or TKIP+AES encrypted networks since theese are the ones used by WPA2 (not 100% sure about this since I haven't bothered to test it out).

A requirement for getting any of the above working is of course that you know the networks PSK (PreSharedKey). And of course, you have to make sure that your network isn't running with a MAC address filter (would guess this is quite rarely used in corp.networks..) and that it doesn't use an auth.server. If so, you'll have to change WLAN Sec.Mode to "802.1x".
