hi all..

i'm trying to get get an update for my 5800 red phone.... currently i have firmware 11.0.008 which seems to be out dated and i'd like to upgrade....

when i try and check for updates using the phone the server profile isn't set - so i tried copying one (which i had to do to get youtube working) but this didn't work either. anyone know the setting i can put in here to make my phone check for updates (i'm in the uk - on t-mobile)

i'm using a mac - so using my computer is....we'll....when i've tried using a mac with a nokia before it was a waste of time, so using the phone i think is the best way to go, if i can get it working..

any help would be gratefully received

i've done a search on this, so sorry if i haven't seen the answer..

im in the same boat there is long post about updating the firmware elsewhere on the forum and after reading it it seems the update is only for the very limited blue phone then if no hiccups we red phone users will get later on

ok cool, thanks for letting me know - i guess we just wait for the update....

so....just a wee bump, to see if anyone has a fix for this yet?

You could do an update using vmware fusion; have a copy of xp/vista installed in a virtual machine, hook your 5800 xm to it, and install nokia pc suite and nokia software updater.

yeah i guess i could try that, seems like a lot of work - does nokia hate mac users this much? the i-phone works well on both....

also it seems silly that you can just do updates using the phone itself.......
