Hello,

Your tutorials are nice and informative. However, I have found an error and request you to look at this carefully:

In your "working with emails" tutorial, you have written:
"9. Select "Enabled" if you want it to check through all internet connections including the phone network and Wi-Fi/WLAN. Choose "Only In Home Netw." if you want it to only check e-mail while connected through Wi-Fi/WLAN."

I have my mail retrieval settings to "only in home netw" and a configured interval of one hour between two checks. However, when my phone does not find a wi-fi link, it uses my GPRS connectivity promptly to get my mails!

My deduction: my phone considers the GPRS connection as a part of its "home netw". So the question is, where is the set of "home netw" configured? How can I reset this to exclude my GPRS connection?

Expecting a quick response! I am bleeding money on my data plan!! Please help....

I have just received my new Nokia 5800.

I have followed all your v. useful tutorials and have personalised my phone.

However, even though I have set the screen lock to "none" the device switches off completly after a short period, if I put it on screen lock.

Also when I am in an application, if I tap the same key more than required (by mistake) the phone switches off automatically!

I then find I have to press the power key a number of times before it connects and switches on the phone again.

I would be grateful if you could help me as it is v.important that I have a phone switched on at all times due to my medical condition.

Thanks

samsmiles

The turning off thing sounds like a bug, what firmware do you have? Type *(hash)0000(hash) to find out.

Go to the phone application with the phone keypad (the same thing you use to make phone calls) and type it.

Yeah, that's a old version, you need to update. Read the tutorial on updating firmware for more info.

It is also possible to import subsriptions from desktop/laptop podcasting application. It is useful, because it is easier to type the tipically longish url addresses. So when you need to subscribe a number of podcasts, it is a must and very easy way to make a full use of Tube. Secondly, one would be able to subscribe to the same programs on the move when at home. Thirdly, as many times the podcasting file gets corrupted and one needs to deleted, it would be a pain to subscribe repeatedly to the choosen programs. Nokia should work on making this third use superfluous.....

Hello and thanks for all the good work which you have done in the forum:icon14:

I purchased a Nokia 5800 yesterday and it is working great but I have one problem:
Flash based websites are not displayed - I only see for example a Flash9 logo.
It was mentioned in this forum that flash sites works with the standard browser. I can watch YouTube videos so it seems that the flash player is working ok.
I have downloaded the Opera 5 (Beta 2) browser and although it is working better and displays more information, it still does not display flash based websites.

If you want you can take a look at "www.handballaction.com" - the landing page is hmtl but just click on one of the flags to see what I mean.

I asked a friend to try these pages with his iPhone 3G and he also could not see the content.

Does anybody have any suggestions or is it just not possible to see such websites on mobile phones.

Or maybe there are better mobile phones of the very latest generation which do display Flash based sites - If so, any information about these mobile phones would be great.

Cheers and please keep up the good work.
