Hi,

I have been contemplating on getting myself a 5800 over an iPhone 3g. Mainly due to the fact that I have always been a big Nokia fan and also that iPhones are way more expensive than a 5800.

My query relates to how well you may have found using 5800 for:
1. Surfing web
2. plugging into Outlook 2007 calender
3. Facebook application (if there is such a thing because iPhone has one)

Thanks,

nitro fan

Hi I have been a Sony Ericsson user since the days of the T68 and I have owned all the P series so I have been very familiar with touch screen phones for a long time (Apple did NOT invent them! no matter how much they would like people to believe they did) the 5800 has the best I have ever seen.

The Nokia 5800 is my second Nokia in the last two years (I previously had an N95 which I sold due to my reliance on touch screens)

I have to say I am seriously impressed with the 5800, I downloaded the Nokia PC suite (It does not come supplied with the 5800) and it synced flawlessly with my Outlook installation and I have over 800 contacts!.

Surfing the web is great you can use the built in browser or add your own I use Opera Mini but both are great.

The built in Browser has a facebook app built in!

It is not really fair to compare the 5800 to the iPhone as the 5800 is so much more advanced in every area.

However how Apple can get away with selling a phone with, no replaceable battery, no cut and paste and no MMS messaging, no phone to phone Bluetooth etc etc is clearly a great example of how effective advertising is at promoting inferior devices.

Its a no brainier go for the 5800 you will not regret it

1. its very good - its personal choice as to which is better - i have an iPod touch
and the multi-touch zoom/keyboard entry is probably nicer - but the 5800 is higher res etc. both are very good for a mobile device. with few limitiations.

2. no problem - use pc suite - or iSync on mac (set entourage to share details to address book/iCal)

3. yep theres a facebook app in the internet folder - but its just a glorified link to an optimised web interface - as with the iPhone one. But it works well.

4. BATTERY - the 5800 kicks the iPhone 3g battery into yesterday lunchtime.
ive been getting two full days - i was lucky to make tea time with the iPhone 3G, original iPhone was fine battery wise.
