Bought a N85 yesterday and I'm quite happy with it. However there are some flaws with the Software I don't understand (my first symbian phone)

1) I see birthdays in my contacts but they are not shown in calendar - found no option to change this?
2) when adding an entry in calendar I can set begin and end times but I see no field "whole day" Any way to set that?

Why don't you just set it from 09:00 to 22:00 ?

because it takes more time ;)
I have to enter my duty roster and I don't need to enter exact times, seeing that the whole day is blocked will do. (of course a program that could set the times according to the toipic would be what I'm looking for but that doesn't exist)

Use 'Memo' for 'whole day' calendar events.
