View Full Version : iPlayer on i8510
sad1f 06-10-2008, 02:29 PM i was wondering if anyone has managed to get iplayer widget to work on these phones...?
also does anyone know if Garmin Mobile XT works on this with the internal GPS and also (like the N82) will it cause a problem because of the lack of pencil key...
srw985 06-10-2008, 04:00 PM I cant get Garmin to work at all.
Currently iPlayer produces error saying "Not Recognised User Agent" but you can modify the program to get round that. Ive been away all week so not had chance to try it but I will soon and post back if it works. Also using the same method theres a way to remove the Wifi only lock so Ill let you know if I manage to remove that.
stuclark 06-10-2008, 09:58 PM iPlayer works if you modify the file. It's not great at the moment (slow and a bit random sometimes) but it works!
I haven't tried the new 1.5 version of the file yet....
KARSANOVA 13-10-2008, 04:08 PM Hi.
I have tried to get the version 1.5 to work on the i8510 but to no joy. Please can you email me your version 1 that works.
My email is mcfusion786 AT hotmail .com
Been trying tho get it working for a couple of days now with no joy!!
Thank you very much. Really annoyed it works on my brothers N95 without a hitch.....
srw985 13-10-2008, 06:19 PM Please can I have a copy of it too, I couldnt manage to modify it to work.

stuclark 14-10-2008, 10:35 AM Right ok - STOP posting email addresses asking for modified software - this is technically illegal!
It's simple enough to modify yourself and clear instructions on doing this have been posted elsewhere in the AAS forums. We're not going to delete those instructions, but we do not condone or support the illegal sharing of software!
Version 1.5 does work, after a fashion. It's not perfect yet, and some of this may be a phone problem, most of it is likely an iPlayer problem. However, seeing as the iPlayer is only OFFICIALLY suported on the N96 at the moment, the fact that it works at all is a bonus!
gmac00 15-10-2008, 07:55 PM Has anybody actually got iPlayer working 100% on a i8510?
I have spent several days trying to get it to work using the various hacks that can be found on the forum and finally got it to a point this evening where I could stream over WiFi several different shows but.............
When i try to watch a something that brings up the Parental Guidance screen I can not get any further:con? I click on Ok to confirm I am over 16 and it just hangs there..........as anybody else found this?
I am using iPlayer V1.0 as V1.5 just does not work, but guess people know that already.
Cheers

blairj70 15-10-2008, 08:12 PM There's an invisible tickbox that you need to tick before continuing. If you move the mouse pointer about you should find it.

neelsn007 04-11-2008, 11:07 PM where is the tickbox, couldn't find it?

jamdog30 15-12-2008, 01:19 PM Success, i have version 1.0 working now over wifi, just a shame i cannot save the file to my phone to watch later. Quality is cracking.

I too am at this exact stage. Getting the same message about switching to a wi-fi connection to watch the program.
Also had no luck playing a downloaded wmv file from the iplayer website either by copying it direct to the video folder and playing from there or by syncing it from within Windows Media Player which funnily enough says i don't have the rights to watch the file and yet is perfectly happy to play it for me. odd.
Langdale 19-12-2008, 10:36 AM Get iplayer v 1.0 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PRFUEM6N
1. Rename iplayer.wgz to iplayer.zip.
2. Open the archive with your PC.
3. Find the file iplayer/js/app-min.js and open it with a PLAIN TEXT EDITOR (no text processor like word).
4. Find the string "(n85|n96|n78)" and change it to "(n85|n96|n78|i8510)", save the file.
5. Find {_state="STATE_NON_WIFI";_self.setState(_state);return }
and replace it with: {_state="STATE_IS_MEDIA_AVAILABLE";return mediaSelector.mtis(_versionPid)}
6. Change the archive's name back to iplayer.wgz.
7. Transfer and install.
alternatively, instead of renaming the iplayer file, open it with winrar and you can edit it without unzipping and save alot of hastle.
This will make iplayer work over 3g, If you cant be arsed to do that send me a pm and i'll email you finished working file
jamdog30 19-12-2008, 05:46 PM hey Langdale
Will this work with the 1.5 version or only 1.0?
thanks
also has anyone tried mixing 1.5 and 1.0 files to gether to get 1.5 version to work??

So does this make iplayer version 1.0 work only over 3G or 3G and wi-fi ? I definitely don't want to use it over 3G when I've got my wi-fi connection at home I can use (and not get a big phone bill)
arsenal401 27-12-2008, 04:47 PM im using the version 1.
all i keep getting is the msg connecting on the realplayer, as if its trying to load up but cant.
does anyone know how to resolve that?
hagman777 09-01-2009, 02:30 PM Hi my first posting i have tried modding the file to work on the i8510 but i still does not work could someone send the finished file i am having no luck Regards

Cymro 10-01-2009, 11:40 PM I have edited the file and I now have iplayer.wgz but how do I install it ? I tried Samsung App installer but it doesn't recognise .wgz files, am i missing something really simple ?:con?
Cymro 11-01-2009, 02:28 PM S'ok I sorted it, I was being daft. problem I now have is when I choose the CLICK TO PLAY I get a message saying "Connection to Server needed. Connect?" I say yes and it says "connecting" then says "Unable to connect to server, Not enough Bandwidth, check network settings" its clearly making a wifi connection to get the programme list but I suspect its making a GPRS connection (no 3g at home) when I say yes to the first question.
Any advice ??

Im at the same stage, I have modified the file and im now left with the iplayer.wgz file. Where do I put that file? Like you said I can't transfer it through the Samsung pc suite, do I just transfer it into the phone memory? If so where?
Also, does this only work through wifi then? Or 3G?
Langdale 22-01-2009, 09:29 AM You put it anywhere on the phone and then run the installer via the office file manager, i dont know which version you have but I have amended my version to work over wifi and 3g.

Got it working with version 1.0 and it also works via 3G, im on O2 network.
Although I did upgrade to version 1.5 and it did not work so I had to re-install 1.0, but it works fine!!
Thanks for the guide on how to change the file and install it!:)
