seems 3 now have E71s on payg
for £239 with £10 credit - anyone know how easy it is to unlock?

i presume you have to request though 3 and pay but how much and will
they do it from new.

as thats a £90 saying (£100 if you use the £10 credit)

I bought one last week. CS can unlock it for you for £15 but they don't have the code from Nokia yet, which could take at least a month.

I got mine unlocked for £20 from a mobile repair shop and its quite hard to do, so not many of them can do it.

Also its £229.99 not £239.99

yes its £229 in the three store - but online its £239 as they bundle in £10 of PAYG credit. can you buy it without buying any credit?

also you could use simAble to unlock it :)

my only concern is then being stuck with 3 firmware revisions (ie out of date)
unless it can be de-branded too.

I tried simAble and it didn't work.

There isn't much 3 branding, just a few added menu icons/bookmarks and startup screen. Also GSM is deleted from network mode leaving you with Dual or UMTS.

I have changed my product code to a generic euro model but no firmware is available for it to update yet.

PS. I purchased it in store and I didn't have to buy any airtime credit.

I went to my local three store in Croydon where I live the ohter day.

I tried to buy a e71 on pay as you go. The guy in the shop told me that these phones can not be unlocked and even if i unlocked it, most of the features will not be available.

I asked if it made any difference if I used NSS software to factory software. He said no, I am very confused! HELP!

I haven't called Three for an unlock code yet, not sure if these things can be done any quicker yet. I tried a market stall and small independent unlocking shop today, both were looking for £25 to unlock the phone but couldn't do it there and then. They had to send the phone away.

Gonna try my luck with Three CS tomorrow.
