hello to all,
i have a problem with the data transfer mode on my 5500. when i connect the cable and select data transfer mode it says that phone will be in offline mode etc etc and i select ok. then an error pops up that says that data transfer mode cannot start because the memory card is being used by another application. the text messages are set to be stored on the phone's memory not on the memory card.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks a lot

morris

What other apps have you installed (what apps does "App.mgr." list as being installed on your phone)? Something else is interfering/locking the memory card.

Hello,
I had a very similar problem, that I've described here (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61004).

In essence, in my case the problem was probably that I had left an application called 'Photography v1.23 by Symbian' on the phone. It was there when I bought it, and I believe that it's part of Oranges 'customization'.

Since I've removed that program, it behaves a lot better. It still occasionally refuses to connect, but if so all I have to do is to try again a couple of times.

I really wish there was something like unix's fuser (http://www.linuxcommand.org/man_pages/fuser1.html) to see what files are locked and by whom.
