Nokia N95 and N95 8GB product codes.
Please note, you should not use a N95 product code on a N95 8GB (and vise versa) unless you REALLY know what you're doing and are prepared to kill your handset.

It should also be made crystal clear, that debranding invalidates your Nokia warranty.

This happened to me...

I had debranded to EURO1 last year, and was now on V21 FW when my handset developed a screen fault. I reset the product code to my original (Orange UK) one I can now state from personal experience, that debranding your Firmware invalidates your Nokia warranty, and even if the original Product Code is set using NSS after de-branding, the Nokia engineers can detect what has been done, and return your handset UNREPAIRED and with a voided warranty.

I had debranded from Orange UK to EURO1 variant last year, and was up to V21 FW when my handset developed a screen fault.
I reset the product code to my original (Orange UK) code, but could not downgrade the FW back to an Orange UK Variant.
I sent in the handset the the main UK NCC (Thorbury Freepost service). Apart from the screen fault everything else worked perfectly.

The handset was returned yesterday with a note saying
"Please note your phone has not been repaired. After inspection by an accredited engineer, it is deemed to be outside the warranty conditions.
Mobile phone IMEI xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Product Code xxxxxxx has been refused repair due to the following:-
Unit has been received with incorrect software.
Unit has higher software than authorised."

Not only is my warranty void, but now the handset is bricked and will not boot. (Presumably the NCC attempted to re-flash & downgrade the FW)

Be warned folks, debranding is great unless you ever need a warranty repair... :o

I am very surprised that they would not repair your phone.

My 3 has been debranded the latest version software loaded by me and a week later after trying to fit a screen protector I broke the screen

3 collected on Thursday fixed it at no cost and sent it back to me on sat

none of my pictures contacts etc were not wiped

I have 2x 3G nokia n 95 and only one needed unlocking

Hey all,

I recently got me a lovely N95 8G pimped to the three network whilst I am with Orange. I updated the firmware (after backing up of course) but still have the Three applications on the phone.

Q: Am I right in thinking that I have to debrand to Orange as they have recently brought out the N95 8G on their network?

If anyone knows how I can make my Three phone an Orangey one or non-gender specific I would be most grateful.

Cheers,
Paul :icon14:

Based on the closest verified one 0557877 = N95 8G .. Malasia

Check the languages it supports to verify that. ;)

Yes seki, I notice that. My phone languages stated are: English, Chinese & Malay.

BTW, on the box it's stated Nokia N95-2 8GB TIM. Will this help in determining the Country of the Product Code 0557876?

Hi all,

Anyone has any ideas why NSS does not recognise my phone?
It is Nokia N95 from "3" UK.
For some reason when I scan for phone in NSS it does nothing, the magnifier icon disappears and then appears again and no phone is detected.
I am in PC Suite mode and running on a very old firmware 20.0.015!
Any ideas?

Nokia N95 and N95 8GB product codes.

Just to make everyone aware (again) that Nokia will invalidate your warranty if de-branding is done using NSS and NSU.

NSU stores a record of every product code and software version applied to a handset (see email extract below).

If a handset comes in to Nokia for repair, the IMEI is checked against Nokia's NSU logs, and the warranty is deemed void if the product code has ever been changed. Even if you have restored the original product code and the handset contains the correct firmware for that product code, the warranty is still void.

See email below as received from Nokia today...

Dear Mr *****

Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.

Further to our telephone conversation of this morning, I can confirm that I have spoken with one of our Product Specialists and have been advised that due to the earlier product code change your handset will not be able to be repaired under warranty. As you are already aware any product code change at any point automatically voids the warranty.

Please see below a copy of the records on our system.

According to the lady I taked to at Nokia this morning, the product code in the handset is recorded for every NSU online update and recorded against the IMEI

>Online Software Update Attempt History
>Date/Time (GMT) YYYY-MM-DD Update Type Result Reason Original Software Version Target Software Version
>07 May 2008 10:44:18 Nokia Software Updater - NSU Successful update Firmware update successful (46) 10.0.046 20.0.062 Product Code 0549174

I suspect the logs above only show the Product Code used where it differs from the original factory code (hence why my last update does not show any code as I had reverted to original one).

hi Here's some product codes I have found so far, if you find any others feel free to add them in here.

UPDATED(Dec. 12, 2007)

European Code(s):
0549487
0557135(Vodafone UK)
0557650(Croatia)
0550379(Balkans)

North American NAM Code(s):
0556218

Australia:
0557646(3 branded make sure PC Suite (http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905) is installed on your PC and that you have the latest version of Nokia Sofware Updater (http://europe.nokia.com/A4579163) (NSU)
click this link (http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/software.htm) and download and install the Nemesis Service Suite (NSS)Beta at the bottom of the page. Current version is 1.0.38.12. when installing, leave all options as is. dont change any options unless you know what to do with it. TAKE NOTE THIS SOFTWARE HAS OTHER FUNCTIONS WHICH COULD MESS UP YOUR PHONE IF YOU USE THEM. ONLY FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW.

plug in the phone to a charger and then connect it to your pc with the USB cable and choose PC Suite mode. It is very IMPORTANT that you wait for all drivers to install if this is the first time you use PC Suite.

start the NSS beta software and then click on the button that looks like a magnifying glass. it will show some info and extra icons should show up.

click on the icon that says "Phone Info"
click on the "scan" button. it should display the IMEI & Phone version. then click the "read" button on the side. your screen should look like the screenshot belowhttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2298/2039719796_ddb391c9a1_o.jpg

now from here on make sure to be VERY CAREFUL. click the enable box next to where it says product code. make sure NOT to click anything else.
copy the number displayed as the product code and keep it safe somewhere incase you need to revert back to the original firmware.
now change that number to a new product code such as the ones above. the ones above are generic and so there are no restrictions in the phone software.
click "write" just once and this should change your product code.
to check it, remove the check from the enable box, and click "read". the number in the product code box should be the new number you typed in. if it is not then repeat from step 6.
if the code changed, close NSS and un plug your phone.
plug the phone back in and do a firmware update using NSU. in 10mins you should have a debranded phone.

Hey all, I have changed my N95 product code to a generic Australian code (code off my old unbranded N95) and when I try and upgrade the firmware NSU tells me that updates have to be approved by my carrier before I upgrade, so therefor it is still regognising my phone as a branded phone. I have tried everything I can think of and still no luck.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
Luko

I have tried unsuccessfully to debrand my N95 from Vodafone UK using NSS as suggested in the forum. To allow my wife to use it on T mobile without Vodafone branding.

Every time I get to the point of scanning for phone info in NSS, I get an error message under scan for product. I have tried the process on three different PC's two running vista and one XP and the reult is always the same. Incidentally the phone has been unlocked officially by Vodafone. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

If the phone has already been unlocked, there's no need to de-brand to allow a T-Mobile SIM to work.

Does anyone have the generic UK code N95-2 RM-320 (e.g the one you get off expansys)? I have Euro1 on mine but the WLAN keeps freezing after 5 mins, forcing me to reboot. I dont think its a hardware problem as it didnt happen on v30 and I'm wondering if flashing to a different PC might resolve the problem.
Thanks in advance

The reason your phone is not detected because you need take out your sim card for NSS to work. Once you have change your product code then you can put you sim card back in for you to update your phone using Nokia software update. I hope this help...:)

Hi, I have just changed the prod code of my Nokia N95 8gb. Previously it had prod code of Three (3) UK. Now i wanted to change it to Pakistan Languages packs. After changing the prod code, languages are not changed but my phone is not getting connected with nokia phone updater. It gives error now.
Unfortunately i couldnt save previous prod code of my device. now upgraded it.
Is there any option for undoing the changes made?
I want to come back to original product code. is there anyway to do it.

plz help.

Rgds,
Rizwan.

Hi everyone I am new to the forum and I am having a problem debranding my Nokia N95 8GB I first have to say I am no whizz kid with this kind of thing so need things explained in layman's terms the instructions I followed were from another website (forum) that I can not find again but they told me to download NSS and the Nokia PC suite which I did they then told me to open NSS scan for new device, phone info, read and to change product code to 0534841 which I did and that should be job done but it isn't it is still Vodafone and if I try to repeat NSS it does not seem to be able to read any info from the phone and declares in the bottom left corner error reading am I stuck with vodafone for ever all my numbers are intact which they said I would have to restore but it seems nothing has changed help appreciated Chris

Hi, I've just finished debranding and updating my N95 8Gb from UK Voda,(Now using GiffGaff) My question is this:-
I used code 0549487 this produced the following results
V 35-0-001 RM 320 N95 (01 01) great to a point.
I now have push-to-talk option (never had that before) I also notice I now have annimated icons
However my problem is that now the multimedia key doesn't work anymore and I cannot access the Ngage games folder.
Am I missing a piece of software, or have I got a more serious problem???
All other functions are fine.
Any and all suggestions & help welcome
Cheers Inthought

I've have reinstalled the same software update, it took about 20 minutes, and now all is well again.
However I did do two things differently, I left the GiffGaff sim in this time (previously I had used an old one from 3) and also When it came to restoring user info back onto the phone I ommited my SETTINGS all other stuff was put back. And.... 'touch-wood' all is well with my baby.
Hope this helps someone

HELP!

I did debranding on my Nokia N95, and installed V35.0.2
Everything seems fine, except my phone crashes & restarts once everyday. Earlier I thought it happened while browsing internet, but recently I have noticed that it will restart even when it is idle. I guess its some memory overflow issue which is causing phone to restart daily. Please help me with the solution :frown:
