1: Make sure your phone's time/date is set correctly.
2: Make sure you try to install S60 3rd Edition versions of apps (S60 2nd Ed. apps will not work).
casperionx 21-03-2007, 08:48 PM Yep I checked the date (its the current date) and the software is the SYmbian Series 60 3rd Edition which supports the N93.
I have been conversing witha fellow from Trendfire (about the same issue with Tredncam) and I could have a missing certificate...I've attached the certificate listing I have on my N93i
2 Baltimore Cyber Trust Certificates
2 Entrust.net Secure Server Certificates
1 Equifax Sercure Certificate
1 GTE Cyber Trust Global Certificate
1 HWL_Authority5 Certificate
1 HWL_Authority6 Certificate
1 MIDP2 GeoTrust CA for UTU
1 MIDP2 Nokia Content Signing Certificate
1 MIDP2 Thawte Premium Server Certificate
1 MIDP2 VeriSign, Inc. Certificate
1 RSA Data Security, Inc Certificate
1 Thawte Premium Server Certificate
1 Thawte Server Certificate
3 VeriSign Class 1 Public Certificates
3 VeriSign Class 2 Public Certificates
3 VeriSign Class 3 Public Certificates
2 VeriSign Class 4 Public Certificates
Am I missing something?
Cheers,
Casp
waynef 22-03-2007, 05:41 AM I bought a Nokia N93i last week and am having a dreadful time trying to install any programs. It keeps coming up with the same thing, Certificate Error (or similar).
casperionx 22-03-2007, 06:37 AM Have you first tried:
Tools->App Manager->Options->Settings->Softyware installation to "all"
Hellerphant 22-03-2007, 11:00 PM I am having the same issue! I want to install my copy of TomTom on my phone, but even official Nokia downloads don't even want to install. Has anyone found a fix for this issue yet?? :(
Hellerphant 22-03-2007, 11:52 PM I have emailed Nokia asking if there is a fix for this, I tried calling their Support staff but Monkeys are more coherent on the phone then this mob. Wait and see what their reply is....annoys me I had all my programs running sweet on my N80 and I upgrade to the Sexiest phone around and it doesn't work correctly ;(
casperionx 23-03-2007, 01:31 AM I contacted Nokia support as well adn they have no ideas - they said to speak with Nokia Care - I've tried to contact them but their lines are always chockers.
Hellerphant 23-03-2007, 02:01 AM Yes I called them and the silly people here for the care line is AUS have no idea what I'm talking about. All they keep saying is Download the newest vision of the PC Suite.....THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE! I already have new one sir, and do you know what they advised me to do....... download the newest version of PC Suite....GOD ARE THEY EVEN LISTENING TO ME **slap** lol
Hellerphant 23-03-2007, 03:26 AM Well finally I found someone at Nokia who is going to help! He's running some tests now and will call me to advise me of the results
I work in IT so I've got a few tricks up my sleeve I'm gonna try, I'll keep you all posted
Apart from this issue I totally adore my N93i :D
casperionx 23-03-2007, 04:37 AM You're an aussie too? Cool. Let me know how you fare, as I would really be keen on finding out how to fix the issue :)
Hellerphant 23-03-2007, 04:59 AM I am more than keen to find a resolution.....
I need to run TOMTOM again. My girlfriend now has my N80 and after using the 93i there is no way I can go back :-(
And I can't even install a cool theme for my phone because of the same issue :(
Not that the standard themes are bad, I quite like them anyways.
I'm interested to know, what phone carrier are you with? 3 mobile by any chance?
casperionx 23-03-2007, 06:29 AM Nope, Im actually a Simplus Mobile customer, I bought my phone through 3 though.
Hellerphant 24-03-2007, 12:33 AM Mmmm... makes me me curious to know whether or not it's a 3 handset issue or not? I did notice there were some digital certificates that were placed in the phone but hutchison and you can't turn them off.....and they all are install application.... don't know if this would cause this issue or not? Maybe I should try contacting three
casperionx 24-03-2007, 12:41 AM Let me know how you fare. As really want to be able to get software installed on my phone - TomTom would also be useful to be able to install
waynef 26-03-2007, 03:18 AM Hi guys, I'm an aussie too, with the 3 network and as I mentioned earlier, having great trouble installing anything. I'd appreciate any feed back you get about this issue as well. Thks.
casperionx 27-03-2007, 01:07 AM I've nutted it down to missing symbian certificates, (check tools->settings->security->certif management) to see if you havethe symbian certificates.

I've just checked it out as you mentioned, and I don't have the Symbian Certificates. What can I do?
casperionx 29-03-2007, 02:37 AM call nokia tell them your handset is missing certificates, I ahve also emailed symbian to see if they can create an installer for the missing certificates.
waynef 29-03-2007, 04:35 AM I've been onto Nokia, useless as the proverbial. Nokia tell me that my software is out of date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've only had the phone two weeks! When I told them that Symbian certificates were missing and asked how the heck was I supposed to install Symbian Software, they couldn't answer, let alone fully understand what I was on about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm not sure there's a way of sending the certificates from my phone, unless i can find where they are actually stored..
Hopefully there's another way..
casperionx 29-03-2007, 05:43 AM They're actually in the rom of your phone, so its a no go zone, the only way it can be installed is if its done by a trusted SIS file I think...hence why im waiting on Symbian Signed to get back to me.

Data in the ROM can be copied but not edited or erased by 'normal' means.
wait for symbian signed is okay.

Try going to the Handango website, I did and have managed to download Full Screen Caller, Blacklist, Alarm Pro and Auto Hang Up. I've also been to the Babinokia site and installed some themes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go figure??????????
casperionx 30-03-2007, 01:29 AM they're probably Java based programs?
waynef 30-03-2007, 03:04 AM I don't know, but to be honest it's worth a try to see if you can install them. Also, I have noticed that the software on the 93i does not give you the option of deleting themes from within the phone. In other words if you install a theme and then realise you don't like it, the only way you can delete it is to formal your memory card and start all over again! Again, it must be the outdated software that 3 are placing on their phones before they sell them to unsuspecting individuals like me.
casperionx 02-04-2007, 01:32 AM Well, after an extensive wander around chats wood and time speaking to nokia customer service, it has become apparent that there is no update at the moment for the Nokia N93i - the Nokia Care centres in Chatswood and Parramatta have both confirmed the current firmware version is 10.0.0.25. Which means pretty much we're screwed. I am on another avenue with Symbian signed themselves to see if they can provide an install of the missing certificates.
andrewlee 07-04-2007, 06:41 AM Hi guys, i am having the same trouble here. I am in Melbourne, Australia. I bought my n93i at a 3 shop too.
Given some members mentioned in this forum that some certificates *could be* missing, any idea we can return our phone back to 3 due to this reason?
hope someone at nokia or 3 can solve this...
this is so bad on a good phone like this.
good luck
andrewlee 07-04-2007, 07:08 AM may i add something, nokia has released a new f/w update on n93i with the version 11.0.009
my n93i (3 branded) comes with ver 10.0.025
however, this is not available to n93i Australia/NZ handset with product code 0519645 (myself)...i am able to confirm this on Hong Kong and China version of n93i with other product code. you guys may want to check out your mobile has new f/w update:
hxxp://www.nokia.co.uk/A4305060
not sure if this new f/w has fixed this issues.
casperionx 10-04-2007, 12:44 AM I've confirmed there is no new firmware yet available down here in Oz :S
I also got this email from symbian signed:
Hi Heath,
Thanks for gathering the information. You are correct, the Symbian Root Certificates are not present on the phone. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do here about this and I have informed Nokia of this issue. I expect that they will contact you but if they do not please email nokia.testing@nokia.com to find out what you can do about this.

Rod.

andrewlee 18-04-2007, 02:20 PM Hi guys,
I solved this problem by burning a new firmware into my n93i...
also after flashing it with new firmware, it is de-branded it from 3 network now and the f/w version is now 11.0.009.
All the symbian A/B/C/D etc. certificate are back and the problem occured before has disappeared. All the software install properly.
Guys please note flashing your phone firmware at your own risks.
Thanks.
casperionx 19-04-2007, 05:14 AM has the firm ware been updated for australia?
regretz23 21-04-2007, 03:42 PM all aussies, i got my n93i from optus so maybe those who hv problem with the certificate signatures is actually because of 3. coz unless the programs i got were corrupted, all the other ones i installed work perfectly fine! good luck with 3~
casperionx 23-04-2007, 10:00 PM I got this reply in my email inbox this morning - those of us who have suffered this issue, it will be resolved soon:
Hi Heath,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you, Nokia have been investigating this. Here is the information I have:
-The root certificates were missing on the variant
-When this was confirmed, the shipping of the variant was stopped
-Now the variant software 10.0.025 has been updated to include Symbian Certificates
-The software will be available in Nokia service centres by end of this month and at Nokia Software Updates by mid May.
Best Regards,
Rod.
