Personal Computer World Magazine (UK) reviewed the P800 this month. They gave it 3 out of 5 saying it was to big and not as good as the orange SPV.

Probably the second. :D :D

Looked in the Jan 2003 mag, it's reviewed the MS so called smartphones
& goes on about the Sendo phone review...guess nobody told PCW mag that they stitched up MS & that phones never gonna be released. ;)

By the way which edition is the P800 in?

I can not beleive that, shows how these mags dont have a clue in this day and age. You need to keep your ear on the net for the real juice.

I've tried the both the P800 and the SPV and I dont know how they can say that. I might be a P800 lover but I am just a gadget freek, currently carrying about 5 handled/phones devices the SPV is fine for what it is but you cant compare them. I the mag had a bit more spine.

Sorry I've changed my mind and think the P800 is crap compared to the SPV.

In the crazy world of computer magazines the P800 was reviewed in the February edition which hits the shelves on Monday I think.

well the you cant compare the p800 and the spv beacuse are diferent categories of phones!!!!!!!!its like comparing a car with a truck!the spv its better for the normal user cause of it size but the p800 its for the heavy user!

I've played with the SPV I think its far too small and fiddly to use as a Smartphone.

i think that that mag sucks along with the SPV....

I dunno, I think they might have a point. If you're a normal user buy and spv if you're a power user get a small phone with bluetooth and a ipaq 3970 or something.

If you're carring around 5 handheld devices I dont think you should pay much attention to the review as i dont think size will be much of an issue for you! :D

If you're a normal user you buy a 7650! ;)

Normal user this, power user that, ...
There are just so many user profiles and usage scenarios imaginable!
Some like small phones, others like big screens.
Some with cam, others without, etc, etc.

I think the real breaktrough technology is Bluetooth that will allow each one of us to carry just the right mix of devices to suit one's need.
a) phone + LapTop
b) phone + SubNotebook
c) phone + 1/4 VGA PDA
d) phone + VGA PDA with keyboard.
...
z)

Personaly I am targetting d) where phone = P800 and latter on Motorola Paragon2 or equivalent (to get rid of P800's memory stick format).

IMO where SPV fails is... ...lack of BT!

(to get rid of P800's memory stick format).
Sounds great, but what's wrong with Memory Stick?

MS wrongs
Proprietary few non Sony devices use it.
Expensive high $/Mbyte ratio.
Small capacity max 128MB today.
Slow the slowest (not sure) of aff flash formats?
Fragmented MS, MS-MagicGate (encryption), MS-Duo (smaller), MS-Pro (future faster >128MB non backward compatible variant).

In a word, MS=MemoryStink (not the only MS that stinks too wink )

well the truth is that you guys just have to realize that SE is respected more than Mirosoft....i still think that the Memory Stick is an ok idea....and all you critics can just leave...because if you like the SPV then make a forum for yourself.
