The 0.0.3 update is so small that it hasn't been released on the updater yet.

It IS available from service centres though.

Morning All

Just a quick note to say thanks for the links to the firmware, however, can I do this upgrade myself? - the last firmware upgrade a did was to my old 6680 and I had to meet some bloke in MacDonalds at Victoria Station to do it, rather than doing it myself. I've only just got my N73 and I don't want to knacker it, so any advice on how / what I do to upgrade - or any walk throughs on the web - would be gratefully received

Thanks

M

Has anyone else noticed a loss of battery life after updating their firmware, mine is now as bad as my N80

What? My firmware is the original one... but the battery is great. Is the best S60 (equal with N-Gage QD) to date on battery lasting.

Yes, I think it is a tad higher on battery use with the newer firmware.

Newby question - how do I do the upgrade having downloaded the 7 files? I'd be happy to swap a <<little>> bit of battery for a reliable Bluetooth connection.

To get the firmware updated , find your local Nokia service centure and get it done for free....
If they muck it up . it s there fault .. they wil get it fixed.. if you muck it up ... Tuff nipples...

David ( N73 with 1 GB card and happy with it )

Thanks David,

I had a look at the service bulletin that was with the update software and I think you're right!

This firmware update is NOT for home users to upgrade their phone.

Only people with an in-depth knowledge will be able to use the files posted.

If I take my N73 to a service centre, can they re-flash the device with the same firmeware so it doesn't have any operator software on it??

Mine currently has the Orange SW with Orange email and www.orangeworld.co.uk as defaults. It's locked the standby mode applications and I'm on T-Mob work SIM anyway.

Does anyone know how and where I can get the latest firmware please?

I updated my N70 firmware myself..

(managed to change it from Vodafone to Generic!)

I'd like to do the same to my N73 - can you help?

Thanks!

Those links up there dont seem to work anymore...

Rapidshare only keeps files online for 30 days before deletion.
Unfortunately you'll just have to Google for another set of links.

A Nokia Service Center will flash the very same product code as you have, if you have a branded phone, it'll stay branded. Anything other would kill Nokia's deal/agreement with the operator branding the phone.

ive got V 2.0628.0.0.1

i was oging to go get it updated but am i right in thinking the only update is a very minor one to .0.0.3?

I phoned nokia and they said this is not an update it is only a variant of the same software.

As and when other software versions are released they will be available on the net for users to update their phones themselves.

I flashed my N73 to the .3 v2 firmware, and so far the "only" improvement I've seen is a slightly more stable Bluetooth, nothing else seems to have been affected on my phone.
I'd say it's better to await a major update from Nokia, my guess is that it's going to be available from their update function as soon as it's judged as stable. Keep an eye open at http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,1522,,00.html?orig=/softwareupdate..
