View Full Version : Why do you like the 3650?

Just a question that bugs me, IMHO it is butt ugly and has a stupid keypad.....No offence to anyone that's getting one/has one.

I just don't see the appeal against the P800 or 7650i (When it's released), except for the price, but could you really live with those looks and the size of it? :-?

As someone is selling some on ebay for 250 (Seems genuine), I considered it but I just couldn't live with phone on a day to day basis with a phone that looks like a 3 year old designed it with a sledge hammer and a lump of of gold plasic.

What are your reasons, or plus points?

Besides that its cheaper than the 7650, wich is a reason, i think it looks better than it. I also don't like the keypad, but i could get used to that. I think its kinda stylish. It has better functions than the 7650 and i really like the option of capturing video. I had an 6110 for a long time, so i'm used to having a phone of that kind of size.

I think you only find it ugly because of the keypad. And you cant live with the size, wich is not much bigger than the 7650 when its flipt open. Correct me if i'm wrong

:)

I think it does look butt ugly and it resembles a flat dildo :D

but the only stuff i see good from it are the MMC expandibility (gets alot of points) and the built in video capture. Other than that, i hate it!

I wanted to get it in the first place for it's pros, but then i changed my mind cause of the style. (the keypad is ridicluous)

I don't like ugly phones, many will agree, but people have opinions, and one might see it nice, one might see it beatuful, one might not see it (blind)

my opinion, no offence too.

Haha, that would be the last thing to remind me of. Common, a dildo??!?! At least an extra function for the ladies  :D

Ok, so far we have price, because the 7650i will be able to capture video (as can the 7650) and it will (or should) have MMC + it'll be one good looking phone with no resemblance to a dildo. :D

But it is not even sure if there will be a 7650i, right?? Then you wait for nothing. Besides, i haven't seen any review that sais that the 7650 can capture video. And you see that in every 3650 review.

Ahem, the 7650 can capture video through a 3rd party program (Two or three actually)

No the 7650i is only a figment of my imagination ;) :P

Aha, i see. So i can just :2gunfire: the idea of 7650i. And i'm shure that i won't have enough money for a p800. I'll stick with the 3650, even if it looks like a dildo ;) Maybe if you really sqeeuze your eyez :)

But i would like to hear other opinions though. Why (not) buy?

...a phone that looks like a 3 year old designed it with a sledge hammer and a lump of of gold plasic...

I dont think its that ugly, having used it for few days. It looks better in live
than in pictures, I think. :D BUT the keypad... that sucks so much!! :(

Still, I say buy it.

04-12-2002, 07:06 PM
The 3650 takes MMC meemory cards, which is a must for vid capture and games, 64 mb MMC's can be got for 40 quid now, imagine how many games, pics you could store on that, anyway there are much nicer simbian/vid capture/mmc slot phones from Nokia in the pipeline.

Don't necessarily like it (seems to be big and clumsy) but it's only Nokia so far which has MMS+camera+email+ BT+GPRS in one packet.

firstly 7650i is not gonna happen, idea is to give u a great fone with one major thing missing memory! then bring out a new model with it so u will buy it.

3650 might not look all that but its the features that count now. theres loads of series 60 stuff around with more to come. also i dont like slide/flip/twist/shake fones so this is not bad.

p800 is going to be pricey by the time the price comes down there will be loads of apps for it. im gonna sell my 7650 get 3650 and then get p800 unless nokia or someone bring out something better than the p800 (with wifi) ;)

The 7650i si definitely going to happen,it might not be what we expect it to be but it will happen. What is the number of devices (Nokia 7650) that are sold by now.More then a milion? Nokia will have to add some cute features to the 7650 ane make another bestseller.I dont think they will let it slip away.

05-12-2002, 12:10 PM

3650 is good as it's a multifunctional phone with new functions in relation to 7650, it's interesting how a better phone could be cheaper but thanks god for such a good price!!!

I dont want to get in to a 7650 VS 3650 war,but i realy dont think that the 3650 is better. Its a nice phone, more features then the 7650,true.But would you take it out on a business meeting :)
There should be something behind that price.

:)

Yeah as it was discussed in another thread "How does nokia number it's phones?" the 3650 is at the mass market, youth market :) Ofcourse it's not as stylish as the 7650, but that's what the 7650 is for !! :D

RoYaL21

If you take the 3650 in the grey color, than it's better looking for business people. I self wouldn't mind taking a 3650 to business meating. It just has too many good functions.

I would probably buy one if it wasnt for the stupid keypad. Im not keen on the shape of the phone but I could put up with that for its features. I was playing around with a mates 7210 the other day and found that keypad hard to used for writing messages due to the different sizes of keys and the way they narrow towards the bottom. Everyone has got used to the regular keypad layout and got their WPP upto a decent speed. The 3650 is supposed to be aimed at the youth marked, and the youth just love to text, so what do Nokia do, give them the most riduculous looking keypad they could think of, nice move. I can see this being a flop.
Anyone that has used you, what is your honest opinion of writing a message on a 3650?

Well not being able to take ito on an business meeting does not imply that the phone is not good! technicaly its superior to the 7650. If it had different looks with the same specs it would be a dream phone!

I did not say that the 3650 is not good,i said that its a nice phone with more features then the 7650.But the price? Why would Nokia sell a technicaly more advanced phone then the 7650 with the half of its price?
I just think there is something more to the 3650.

I'll try to share my thoughts on my next phone (btw, currently the 3650 has the lead):

I considered PocketPC phone edition, but although I like Windows on my desktop, WindowsCE simply sucks. No way to get me buy one of those if there are Symbian-phones.

I really like PalmOS as PDA-OS (and my next phone has to be PDA/cellphone combo), but I played around with a treo and the cellphone-part is pretty poor.

I highly favored the P800 for some months. I wouldn't mind it's price, but I don't like that flip that directly touches the screen (imho it didn't work out on the R380 or-whatever-it's-name-was), so I wouldn't use it, and a phone with touchscreen and no keypad is imho disfunctional (another point against PPC phone, too). Furthermore there's more software out for Series 60 and a lot of people own a 7650, so it's more attractive for developers I think.

I also considered the 7650, but it simply lacks memory and software. Sure, I can purchase Webviewer instead of that XHTML-browser, but that's extra-cash and the phone is more expensive anyway though it's poorer featureset. Add in RealOne player and you pay much more money for weaker featureset and 2MB RAM or so.

Since I'm a tech-geek rather than a fashion-victim, I'll go with the 3650 (and save serious cash additionally), but if Nokia announces 7650-successor before 3650s launch, I would go with that one, even if it's more expensive (let's say up to 250 price difference would be tolerable).

i am currently looking to replace my mobile having used the 6210 for over 18 months and never had ONE problem with it!

i've looked at the 7650 and the P800 so far but now am looking at the 3650. i really had to decide what i wanted out of the phones. my view is that the 7650 and P800 are more business style phones, closer to the 9210 and PDAs. I feel the 3650 is more of a 'fun' phone being aimed at 18-30 year olds.

i've seen a demo of the 7650 and heard about the P800 from someone who has seen and tested it but i am waiting for the 3650 before i buy! it's a different design but i like it - something new and different.

one thing i don't like about the 7650 is the slide down keypad thingy. while i like the idea of it protecting the camera i think it looks big and chunky and i ain't a bit fan. other than that i like the look of the 7650 (when the slide down is closed). i've not seen the 3650 in the flesh but from pictures of it i like the general look. number pad is different but i feel easily adaptable to.

i think the keyboard is not bad. it's just that ALL other mobiles use the same design. remember that ALL telephones use to use the same design. i think it needs a test run. i don't plan to buy it without firstly testing it for dialing and texting.

the keypad is just different - people are often scared of things that are different :x-mas:

Euan, would you buy a keyboard with a layout other then qwerty or dvorak? I dont think so,why reinvent the wheel,it works fine as it is now.And about the price of the 7650i.It should be around 600 euros if the rumours about the p800 are true(600 euros, simfree),then again, this is Nokia we are talking about,so be ready for astronomical prices.

Euan

but i ain't looking for a PDA - i am looking for something for some fun and as a phone. i use the keypad for txting and dialling numbers, a different layout ain't going to change my life.

prices i was quote by phones4u for the P800 on contact, 250-280.

as i said, i will try it out first - i may totally wrong - it may be shift 4 typing but as for looks, i don't mind it.
