Firmware 4.37 for the 7650 is set to be released and available from Nokia Service Centres on or around December 22nd (but may be available before this). The new version fixes several bugs including the drop of line2 after 59 seconds bugs (that only some people have had).

Firmware can only be updated by Nokia Service Centre (a special machine / software combination is used).
You can find out your current firmware by typing the following at the main screen: *#0000#.

This morning phone stores were closed, so I'm impatiently waiting for opening time to call a couple of them and ask... if they have 4.37 I will be there in minutes! (even if they're about 50km from here :D )

Anytime I try typing in these type of service requests "#0000#' I just get a "request not complete message": does anyone know why this is so?

Anyway - I sort of don't know what Im talking about... "Firmware" - is that like the BIOS/CMOS in a PC or more like the OS? Or what...? My ignorance knows no bounds...

today there are still phones beeing sold in austria with 3.12..... and don't wonder about anything when it comes to nokia and support....

Just rang the shop in Dublin, Ireland to enquire whether I could get my firmware upgraded... They told me there is nowhere in Dublin I can get a firmware upgrade !!! Dublin is the capital of this sodding little country but no-one can upgrade my firmware !!!!! Have to emigrate.... maybe... but sort of wished I hadn't bought a nokia too....

Well consider this:

I called a nokia shop in Abbingdon (spelling might be wrong), it's near Oxford, and they told me that I could get the software upgraded for free (they said when I say firmware I'm wrong, it's the software that gets upgraded).

So I thought lucky me, I'll get it upgraded from 3.xx to the new 4.xx(whatever they want to call it). But then they told me there is a problem, the file/software sent by Nokia was corrupted so I have to wait untill they fix it.

I've been waiting ever since, this was about a month ago...

So, you are not alone....

not in ireland north or south but west...ver 4.36 was pre-loaded...but i think i'll go for an upgade if i have the time...even though i'm not too sure what difference to ver4.39
