Hi all,

As you may know, on the Nokia webpage, you have the opportunity to get all the configurations you need for your specific phone/specific operator.

Starting from that great idea, I'm wondering if this could be possible from my own.

I explain:
In a purpose of a project with my school, I was thinking of creating a video streaming service for mobile. The application : The user goes to the website of this service provider. He selects his mobile type (here the test could be an E61). The service provider then sends the configuration for the phone to connect to this service (wireless AP info, proxy for video, etc...). And when the user comes to this specific wireless area, the phone asks for the user if he wants to accept the incoming video (so, auto connection to the proxy, and reception of the streamed video...)

Does that make sense ?

So what I'd like to know from the gourous in the forum :) is if that is possible to send some configuration data to a phone through sms or mail, or so on... I now the service exist from Nokia website...but maybe it's not accessible for the mortal group of people we are... :frown:

If anyone has an answer for this. If it can be done and how or if it can't be done and why ;)

Cheers,

Rgds,
Matthieu

The configuration messages are described in a document called "Smart Messaging Specification". It should be obtainable through http://forum.nokia.com/

Thank you for this link. It seems that will be helpful.

Can anyone post his experience about sms configuring ? And maybe give me some piece of advise...

Does someone can help me on this ?

I've tried to write sms from the E61 and sent to it but with no good result.
It seems that the mobile phone should discover that it's a configuration sms but it doesn't.

Really, if someone has any experience on this, give me a hand please :frown:

My guess is that what you've got to do is to contact Nokia directly and ask them about the procedures. You mentioned a school project, so I'm guessing that you're studying to become an engineer or suchlike? Most likely you'll (eventually) find some kind of engineer at Nokia that is more than willing to talk at great lengths about OTA configuring (as it is his pet project over there in Eespoo...).

Best of luck!
