Whenever i try and install anything (eg. brushed metal theme from this site) i get an error message:

Certificate Error, please contact your phone supplier.

Can anyone shed some light on this fault for me please?

Yup, go to

Menu > tools > App. manager > options > settings > software installation - change it to "all".
