View Full Version : Disable that the N70 slide will start camera function
Mexke 08-12-2005, 06:44 PM Hi!
I just bought the N70 2 days ago, and it is a perfect phone!!
Only I would like to disable the function that the camera starts when you slide the back of the phone to the bottom. I don't know how!!
Does anyone has the answer?
Kind regards!
Don't think you can. Its REALLY annoying that it gets out of the keylock..
Mikademius 08-12-2005, 09:11 PM Why would you want that? The only reason to use the slide is to access the camera....
If its in your pocket the slide comes down all the time
I guess they can't please everyone,
My thought process would be that i'd get really annoyed if I had my phone locked in my pocket, saw something I wanted to capture instantly and when I slid the back down thought ah damn keylock! And you know how slow these phones are even then..
I think its a good move.
mark4130 10-12-2005, 09:06 AM I have the phone in my pocket every single day. I have NEVER had the slider slide down when its in my pocket. If you put the phone in your pocket the right way up, it cant slide down.

ditto - i think it's a good feature and have taken a few quick snaps using this - say cheese :D
Mikademius 12-12-2005, 08:49 AM If it goes off in your pocket, you're having it in there the wrong way ;) On/Off button upwards is the way to have it.
beckhamyears 12-12-2005, 04:33 PM The only way i get around this is to put an unlock code on the phone.
This security feature allows you to move the slide up and down without activating the camera!!!
But does mean you have to enter a PIN code each time??
Hope this helps

well if you look closely... when you remove your cover there's a little pin thing that sticks out on the same spot where the slider comes down and flips it down...
if you can somehow stick it down... then it wont activate the camera when you slide it.
xnxnxn 18-12-2005, 06:00 PM All we ask for is an easy way to configure it. For those who like it like that - it will be set to "on" and for those who was to disable it - it would be possible to set it to "off". Is that too mcuh to ask?
Cheers,
X :)

well it isnt but since the phone doesnt allow it, the solution i gave was a good compromise.
yentie 22-12-2005, 11:43 PM What would be a good Idea, would be a replacement back to the phone that has a button or a slide catch, that would allow the slide to stay shut until you release it yourself, still allowing a quick photo to be taken
snapsix 30-04-2006, 09:26 PM Ok i already wrote this hint to one another thread in this forum but in case you didn't notice my previous message, here it is:
If you don't want the camera to start when the slide is down you can prevent it by killing the "CamServerCore" process (by pressing C key) from [processes] folder with FExplorer (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/item/Series_60_Freeware.php). Sadly, the keylock still opens when you slide the cover down. Even if you kill the process you can still start the camera software via phone menu and the process comes back when you restart your phone so the slide works again.
Liquid_Li0n 01-05-2006, 04:00 PM What I thought when I bought the phone was the side button to take panoramic photos was the button to open the slider. It would be better because I always use the 5way direction key for taking photos
