The beach is in the North-East of England, here to be exact:
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=424000.134564865&Y=627000.258684468&width=500&height=300&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=0&scale=25000&left.x=4&left.y=95
It's a bit cold at this time of year in the UK, but that just means you have the beach to yourself :D The 6630 has the first phone camera I've owned that can take pictures worth posting online!

willbrady 12-01-2005, 09:26 AM Looks like you have used the zoom on that pic mate.
Not a good idea on ANY camera with a digital zoom, as you have discovered...
If you need to be closer then you better off taking 2 steps foward rather than using the zoom, this is not a limitation of the phone, it's a limitation of digital zoom.
Will
f-t-b 12-01-2005, 09:34 AM I have just checked..... unfortunatly it is not zoomed.
set on 1280 resolution.

Utenteanonimo64 12-01-2005, 10:05 AM guys this megapixel rush happened already in digital cameras and now it's happening in camera phones.... let's be real! it may be a 1.3 megapixel camera but it's still crap... I mean how can you expect to take decent pictures with a camera with FIXED FOCUS!?!?! Don't buy this phone because of the number of pixels in the camera.... you will be disappointed!

Yep, at the end of the day the "lens" is the size of a gnat's scrotum and the CMOS sensor costs no more than a fiver.
Besides, it's not as if you're going to be making poster prints of phone pics anyway.
Nutzu 12-01-2005, 12:17 PM f-t-b i think U'r N6630(if u use one)is a faulty one i can't make pitures that bad even if i whant with my N630,so go and change it.

drchris 12-01-2005, 05:50 PM my phone seems to take grainy pictures as well
its on highest possible settings, un-zoomed and the pictures are far from clear
is it possible i have a faulty phone?
EDIT: This is a pic of a nice car i took, highest settings unzoomed. Its been resized by the image hosting website to 640x480 but you can still see its very grainy. They dont even look nice on the actual 6630 phone.

willbrady 12-01-2005, 06:48 PM Yes, that is a little noisy, maybee because it's a night shot.
But 4 secs in Noiseware soon sorts that..
drchris 12-01-2005, 11:37 PM true, thats looks better
but the thing is all my pictures are grainy!
even the ones in daylight
is there a chance my camera lens is screwed up?

And with a quick tweek in 'noiseware' and I think for a cameraphone it not too bad at all!
fannypad 20-01-2005, 06:16 PM Blimey, that Noiseware aint bad at all! Almost as good as what you can get after a few minutes in Photoshop :icon14:

willbrady 21-01-2005, 08:28 AM Hi.
It's called noiseware from www.imagenomic.com
Works a treat on most images - you can also just point it at a folder and press 'go' and it will go through all the images and smarten them up.
It's very fast and the default settings work fine most of the time.
Think I read somewhere they are working on a symbian version - so you can smarten your images before they leave your phone :)

Now that is an APP I would pay for, that Symbian noiseware. Good stuff, hope they do release it.

To those that are disappointed, make sure the plastic covering the lens isn't covered with dirt or fingerprints.

THIS is the reason for having camera phones; when you're happily having a dance in a squat party in some warehouse in east London, and you see a robot couple on stilts come and start busting better moves than you.
Again, these came out much better than I expected.

jonvision 24-01-2005, 01:16 PM Resized to 640x480. It is taken in a pretty lowlight enviroment.
Guest2210 24-01-2005, 02:00 PM The 6630 camera is very good. I have quit a lot of nice photos. The noise is probably caused by a dirty lens, a higher zoomlevel, or the grade of light in the area. Every camera needs light, every lens has to be clear of fingerprint and dust and digital zoom always sucks. If you want better pictures than the 6630 can offer you should consider buying a canon eos 300D or some other camera with a lot of megapixels, but then you have a bulky camera which can't be taken with you in your pocket and you can't call with it....
The phonecameras are meant to be used at the moments when you don't have a camera, but you still want a photo of the situation and in such a situation the 6630 is today the best phone to have. You have a 1.3mp camera, a broadband internet connection, phone, e-mail service, etc etc with you in a device not bigger than any other average phone. :D

willbrady 14-04-2005, 07:24 AM Hi.
I use the 'double click' method of taking pic's, that reduces a lot of noise but can sometime give you a dark pic.
Else you can edit them on the PC - Fir that I use Noiseware from www.imagenomic.com
I run it in batch mode and point it at my photo's folder - exccellent program.
'Double click' is when you take the first pic and you see its full of noise - hit the back key and then immeadiatly take the pic again, I say immeadiatly, ie don't let the cam have time to 'gain up' and brighten the picture, as that's when the noise comes in..
Hope that helps
Will
faizalmzain 14-04-2005, 09:04 AM for double click method:
if you want to take less dark photo...after u back..just wait a few seconds before click again...maybe 3 seconds...last time i check..it takes about 4-5 seconds to adjust the exposure.
markd 14-04-2005, 09:16 AM thats all very well, but after you've pressed back and waited a few seconds, the moment may have gone!!
You could turn off the auto-show-picture thingymajig and then you can take pictures in really quick succession.
gauravdc 24-04-2005, 09:42 PM here are some pics that i got after attaching the NOKIA flash PD-2........to put it simply the attachment ROCKS!!!!!!
