Tell us something about it as soon as you can... I.E. if it has T9 in phone mode and vibracall ( i really can't understand it. some says it has, someone else it has not...) Greets :icon14: J2theIZZO 29-10-2004, 09:43 AM Lucky MAN... Tell us something about it as soon as you can... I.E. if it has T9 in phone mode and vibracall ( i really can't understand it. some says it has, someone else it has not...) Greets :icon14: No "vibrate" function in any of the communicators AFAIK smagdyy 29-10-2004, 12:27 PM Please say if it has T9 Raven 29-10-2004, 12:35 PM No T9, unfortunately. J2theIZZO 29-10-2004, 01:10 PM No T9, unfortunately. It's got a proper keyboard, why do you need T9? :con? GhostDog 29-10-2004, 01:15 PM Me and my keyboard fetish again: How many fingers can you use to touch type on the 9500? Raven 29-10-2004, 01:24 PM It's got a proper keyboard, why do you need T9? :con? I can think of many situations where I wouldn't want to open it up just to respond to an SMS etc. One handed, "on the go" usage is another important factor. smagdyy 29-10-2004, 01:28 PM Simply.......... T9 for fast one hand operation... its reall important feautre Vicky 29-10-2004, 02:50 PM Really Lucky Not only won Nokia 9500 and have get just before release. J2theIZZO 29-10-2004, 03:15 PM I can think of many situations where I wouldn't want to open it up just to respond to an SMS etc. One handed, "on the go" usage is another important factor. Each to their own, I doubt very much that i'll use the front part of the phone at all!! And I can't stand T9 anyway, it doesn't recognise some extremely simple words, I see it more of a pain than a help. Ismail 29-10-2004, 07:29 PM congratulations man u deserve it now where is our personal review:) p900fan 30-10-2004, 07:24 AM Hey folks, I just received my 9500, some pics, V congratalutions from my side i am a new member in this forum but i have been reading the posts for a while now.i am going to purchase a 9500 as soon as it arrives in my place but i am little confused on its video playback and video recording features.u see i have previously used 7650,p800,7600,6600 and now i am using a p900 and e398.in all these cells i have noticed that only p800 and p900 actually playback video with aac stereo sound so does 9500 does it too.also does 9500 have a smooth video recording feature like a personal camcorder. thanks jazzy1 30-10-2004, 09:05 AM Congratulations !!! Enjoy Your New Toy !!!!! mckenzie 30-10-2004, 09:38 AM Come on Vineetamar write down a little review, don't leave us!! :-) Post more photos...We are waiting for you !! :D vineetamar 30-10-2004, 06:33 PM Thanks to all of you for your congrats .... Now what all of you have been waiting for, some reviews, first of all .. the fone looks grr8 and feels grr8 .... it feels light(u'd say .. duhh it IS light, but it feels way lot more lighter than wats the diff in weight) the front screen looks good but otherwise the features are pretty basic, u have a navigator(the round button) to use for the front screen and it takes a while to get used to as many times i tried to press enter but pressed it down and opened up contacts instead, the front screens use is pretty basic but the colored screen and the backgrnd make it v appealing, otherwise it has the following features: messages, call log, contacts, profile, settings, camera, Service providers menu and now we come to what makes this phone the winner, the inner screen, well you lal have read reviews and read a hell lot about the fone but seriously when u have it to urself to play around with, its really good, the keyboard is very handy, the keys are almost feather touch, especially the enter key, and i find it very easy to type with this keypad, you all have seen pics of the keypad so im not gonna describe it, the navigator inside is very handy and makes browsing all the more easier and enjoyable, i tried using word files, excel sheets, powerpoint presentations, pdf files, and the fone opens them easily and you can use these files with ease, if any file needs converting it converts it automatically, the fone has an mp3 player(which u all kno abt) but the speaker quality acc to me is pretty average, well i am a demanding customer, but still i wudve expected better quality on the speakers, the the fone seems slow at times to me, and the fone has serious connectivity problems via IR, i've had 3 hangs till now and all when i was attempting to connect to my laptop via IR, although the data cable works perfectly, the camera is also ok, it has 3 modes for picture quality, high, normal and basic, there is also a night mode, and a portrait mode, in the portrait mode the res is 80 x 96 rather than 640 x 480 i recorded a video but all i cud manage was 10 secs with the current memory, i transfered some pics but the fone wudnt open them and everytime i opened them the software hung and closed, then i reduced the resolution of those pics on my pc and reloaded them and they opened up fine, Wifi - i used the wifi a bit but i cudnt use it extensively as i dont have wifi points arnd but the fone did detect one wifi point once and i tried to connect to it, i managed a page in good time even tho the software said the signal was 'weak' but i wont comment on wifi as i havent used it much, the data transfer from my 9210i was very easy as the fone comes with a software especially designed for data transfer and it transfered all my msgs and my calender items and my notes as well, via IR, thats all i can think of rightnow, do ask me questions if you have any, also check out here for picture quality and third party softwares, http://www.9500communicator.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79&page=3&pp=10 vineetamar 30-10-2004, 06:35 PM more pics ............... Delta737 30-10-2004, 06:41 PM Thanks for the update! Seems it still needs some updates before the OS is perfect. Vicky 30-10-2004, 06:48 PM Hi Vineetamar Tell me one thing that if some take your phone Then will u buy this phone at this stage. and One thing more as compare to p900 who's sound quality is better. vineetamar 30-10-2004, 07:07 PM Hey Vicky, Frankly as of now this is the fone i will buy, but perhaps in the next year, the motorola mpx seems to be a good alternative, but i must admit that i have a special liking for the communicator series, i find them more classy, more elegant than the other competitors and the looks and the feel is a major issue with me, as for the sound quality, i had the p800, and its comparable with that, as i said, its adequate, but dont have too high hopes with playing mp3's as for your ringtones and alerts, yes u'll find them loud, V Vicky 30-10-2004, 07:19 PM Thanks Vineetamar Hope that i can get Nokia9500 Soon. as u said that u r the fan of communicator series. is it have better handling then 9210i (When Closed)and can it come in the pocket easily. Wht Operating system used in 40 series. Does it Support the 40 series themes. its like 6230 or like 6610 vineetamar 30-10-2004, 07:37 PM Well to answer your questions, 9500 is defnitely better than the 9210i in every respect, with the cover closed as well, the options are a bit better in this one rather than 9210i, and you asked abt carrying this fone, well i had gone for my weekly golf in the morning, and i had this fone with me, no problems, i generally left my 9210i in the car or at home itself, for someone like me used to the 9210i this is really light and handy, it fits easily into tight trousers including denims(u mite wanna be careful of getting scratchedin denims tho), and unlike the 9210i's outer keys( which used to get in ur way) this one slides and glides through, V Vicky 30-10-2004, 07:42 PM Thanks again u clear my alll doubts. nwit 31-10-2004, 12:48 AM pls compare the speakerphone of 9500 with that of 9210i. also could we use the speakerphone when flip closed? what is the clock speed of the chip? nwit 31-10-2004, 01:01 AM pls also wonder whether the opera browser on 9500 has an unlimited zoom function like the destop version? if not, can we change the font size of the browser on 9500 like that of the default browser of 9210 (note that we cannot do that on the opera on 9210i, can do only on the defult browser on 9210)? Delta737 31-10-2004, 06:54 AM Another request for you (are you still happy you won?? ;)) : What do you think of the battery life? Did you have some time to test it? jazzy1 31-10-2004, 07:25 AM Hi vineetamar U're very lucky man as i want to know how could u won the 9500 ? And which country r'u from ? CONGRATS AGAIN !! vineetamar 31-10-2004, 12:31 PM pls also wonder whether the opera browser on 9500 has an unlimited zoom function like the destop version? if not, can we change the font size of the browser on 9500 like that of the default browser of 9210 (note that we cannot do that on the opera on 9210i, can do only on the defult browser on 9210)? hi, i wont answer your question now, gimme some time and ill surely come back to u, V vineetamar 31-10-2004, 12:35 PM The speaker of the fone is adequate, to me, it shud've been better, but it can fulfil ur requirements and especially if u use the handsfree then the music sounds really nice, and yes, since the speaker is on the side of the fone unlike the 9210i, you can comfortably use it with the lid closed, in fact that wud save u a bit of battery as well, and now ocming to the battery, its really long lasting, i am very happy with the battery, i finished of mine yesterday after continous playing of hours of music on the speaker, im very happy with the battery life, i think if you are worried about using wifi on this battery, it should last you long, V vineetamar 31-10-2004, 12:37 PM (are you still happy you won?? ;)) ? i didnt quite get what u meant by the message, but yes i am happy and anyways if i hadnt won it i wouldve purchased it the first it hit the shops, V nwit 31-10-2004, 12:49 PM v, thanks for your reply. but could u be kind to compare the speakerphone of 9500 with that of 9210i. i have to ask specifically about this because my 9210i is quite new. there is no reason for me to buy 9500 if its speakerphone is not at least as good as that of 9210i. thank you again for your help. Delta737 31-10-2004, 01:26 PM i didnt quite get what u meant by the message, but yes i am happy and anyways if i hadnt won it i wouldve purchased it the first it hit the shops, V Because you get so much requests here... It is almost a fulltime job:D vineetamar 31-10-2004, 01:43 PM v, thanks for your reply. but could u be kind to compare the speakerphone of 9500 with that of 9210i. i have to ask specifically about this because my 9210i is quite new. there is no reason for me to buy 9500 if its speakerphone is not at least as good as that of 9210i. thank you again for your help. well its certainly better than 9210i, nwit 31-10-2004, 02:37 PM v, many thanks for the speakerphone info. hussainh 31-10-2004, 05:13 PM I recently purchased a P910i...I have been waiting for this communicator since the news of it back in february. Either way I will buy the 9500, but I would just like to see a comparison. Please? Hussain RickyTec 01-11-2004, 01:20 AM Here it goes a short comparison: SCREEN: With 9500 you'll have a much larger screen - 640x200 insted of 320x208 from P910i. A BIG PLUS FOR 9500, specially for internet and word, excel. MEMORY: With 9500 you'll have 80mb of RAM insted of 64mb from P910i. Not very different here. WLAN: Wi-fi only with 9500. ANOTHER BIG PLUS FOR 9500. BLUETOOTH, INFRA-RED, CAMERA... both have it. DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT: Nokia 9500 - 148 x 57 x 24 mm and 222g; P910i - 115 x 57 x 26 mm and 155g. Here is where P910i call the shots. Lighter and smaller TOUCH SCREEN: Only with P910i. QWERTY KEYBOARD: P910i have a tinny QWERTY keyboard that you can only use it with a sharp stick (forget the fingers!). Nokia 9500 (like any communicator) have a REAL KEYBOARD that you can use it. PRICE: the same - around 800€ here in Portugal - Nokia 9500 isn't out yet, so we're talking about an estimated price. I hope I answered your question. hussainh 01-11-2004, 01:59 AM Here it goes a short comparison: SCREEN: With 9500 you'll have a much larger screen - 640x200 insted of 320x208 from P910i. Thanks RickeyTec I knew all of that info already...just seeing if anyone had any additional comments or preference after having both. I know its early but has anyone purchased or used both and can sensibly say which is better? The WIFI is the BEST feature of the 9500. Playerkiller 01-11-2004, 10:05 AM You posted even a GPS software for navigation included with communicator. Is that right or i just misunderstood your post? Thx a lot! Pk TheJoker 01-11-2004, 11:56 AM Congrats on receiving the phone! I guess this now means that they do actually exist, and that us mere mortals might get our hands on one, one day... :D Thanks for all the info! vineetamar 01-11-2004, 01:17 PM You posted even a GPS software for navigation included with communicator. Is that right or i just misunderstood your post? Thx a lot! Pk Yes theres a GPS software in the CD, But if its FOC or you have to pay to the developer is not known to me, As i havent installed it cuz i dont use GPS, V Delta737 01-11-2004, 01:55 PM Another question: Does the outside of the phone (series 40 part) have T9? I read somewhere the pre-releases didn't, so I'd like to know if that changed... Raven 01-11-2004, 02:09 PM No T9, unfortunately. Delta737 01-11-2004, 02:22 PM  Oops, this thread is moving so fast, I already forgot the first parts. Anyway, thanks for reminding me Raven  Raven 01-11-2004, 03:27 PM Not a problem, Delta :) I really think it's a shame they left out T9 (P800 flashback). I guess it may have something to do with the cost of licencing from Tegic. I dunno. No T9, no calendar and no MIDlets from the phone side are the only drawbacks I can think of though. GhostDog 01-11-2004, 04:17 PM MEMORY: With 9500 you'll have 80mb of RAM insted of 64mb from P910i. Not very different here. Do not confuse internal storage memory with RAM - memory needed for execution of applications. Any hints on how many fingers you can use to touch type on the 9500.2,4,6? oh1jty 01-11-2004, 04:52 PM That's really shame they left T9 out. Can you use WAP browser on phone side ? RickyTec 01-11-2004, 06:37 PM That's really shame they left T9 out. Can you use WAP browser on phone side ? I don't think you can use WAP or any browser on the phone side, but why do need it? The other screen is the one that you should use for browsing WAP or WEB. vineetamar 02-11-2004, 02:32 PM The number of fingers would really depend on your palm and finger size, i prefer typing with 2 to 6 fingers, although people with slim fingers can mange with all 8 as for the browser outside, as i mentioned earlier, the series 4 menu has the following items msgs, call log, contacts, profiles, settings, cam, and sim services(ur service providers menu) i think all questions have already been asnswered somewhere or the other, i suggest u guys read all the msgs once again Playerkiller 02-11-2004, 05:50 PM too bad no MIDlets are aviable for serie 40. I'd like to play something while not working without opening the communicator side. Probably aviable with a software upgrade, or completely impossible? Ismail 02-11-2004, 06:39 PM completly impossible:) Raven 02-11-2004, 08:08 PM It's definitely not impossible. But it's highly unlikely that nokia will offer such a firmware upgrade. Playerkiller 03-11-2004, 07:16 PM As i thought there MUST be an hope... matrixxx 05-11-2004, 04:50 PM hi v. what memory card (MMC) capacity are you currently using? have you tried using them with a 2gb mmc, coz if it works, i guess ive to start looking for one before the 9500 comes out in our market. likewise, what accessories does it go with, does it come with a handsfree set and a holster, or you'll just have to buy it separately? lastly, since 9201i uses nim format for its video files, have you tried if nim format actually works with 9500? thanks matrixxx 05-11-2004, 05:04 PM hi again v, am i correct to understand that big picture files cant easily be opened not unless you do some size editing? likewise with big video files? lastly, since i used a lot of the excell and word format files compatible with the 9210i, can i assume that it would easily work with new 9500 just by copying them without the need to convert them? thanks in advance for the info sunnyyadav 06-11-2004, 08:51 PM Hey how to get it man, how much it will cost? Anyone know? Vicky 07-11-2004, 05:00 AM The Price vary from region to region here is the link (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29683) hope it may help you. TheJoker 09-11-2004, 05:18 PM Hiya, How are you getting along with the Communicator now? Any problems, any good bits? Have you tried WiFi? Does it work well when switching between WiFi and GPRS? How's the keyboard... What sort of battery life do you get out of it... etc etc... ... we're all curious! :D Thanks! And, I'm especially curious if vineetamar has had any more experience with WiFi, and the other stuff I asked about... :D Beaubarre 10-11-2004, 09:29 PM Hello, I haven't found the answer of the following question: what happens when one install a Nokia 9210 program on the 9500 or 9300. Does it works or it depends ? Thanks N/A 11-11-2004, 07:17 AM Most should work as-is. For some you might need to get a new, updated version from the author/developer. john-se 17-11-2004, 02:50 PM hi im new here. can you please tell me if the 9500 can use mp3 as ringtones and mp3 as sms tones thanx. RickyTec 18-11-2004, 03:04 AM Yup. And for the ring phone as well. |
