Since installing the 1GB ATP MMC in my SX-1 (see my post about it with pictures under the SX-1 compatibility post), I've been listening to a lot more mp3's. I installed the trial version of the Ultramp3 player from the allaboutsymbian.com software store and liked it enough to buy it. It sounded great for the 15 minute trial, but after I bought it, the sound quality went from very good to horrid. The bass went to this strange, flat sound for nearly every song and some songs were unlistenable because there was a lot of distortion. I went to the Handango.com store and asked for a refund on the software. I've deleted it from my SX-1 it was so bad.

Can anyone else recommend an MP3 player they like? I'd like one with good graphics and the ability to create playlists from my mp3's is a must. The Ultramp3 player only implemented this halfway; you could mark and unmark songs, but I want to create a list of songs that are "80's", a list of songs that are "heavy metal", etc.

Also if anyone cares to know, I upgraded my phone on Tuesday (before buying Ultramp3) to the Version 12 firmware from Siemens website. The installation went beautifully.

Hi,

I had the same problem with mp3-player on my SX1. Now I changed to the OGG-format und found a freeware for my SX1-Mobile. Have a look under: www.geocities.com. It's called OggPlay.

The Ogg-files sound is much better than the sound of my old mp3-files.

A nice tool to convert audio-cd to ogg can be done by No23-Recorder (www.no23.de).

I use oggplayer too.

http://symbianoggplay.sourceforge.net/ <- homepage

I use dbPowerAmp music converter to convert from mp3 or cd straight to ogg files.

Ogg files are about half the size of mp3 and sound better.
