View Full Version : Spanish update!?
WiiiiieeeGetZ 28-09-2004, 03:32 PM Hey, this is a message for plynkikev.
I just want to know at which point are the communications with Telefonica Movistar to release the spanish update!! Have they approved it!? Or not yet!?
Thank you very much! Here in Spain we're waiting for this new firmware!!!
morph 28-09-2004, 03:40 PM hola :)
Pk told that they are waiting for the OK from Movistar (Telefonica). Sendo is doing his best to try to push Movistar to give the OK.... (Thumbs up for Sendo/Pk)
Iīm using again my old Ericsson T39 while Iīm waiting fro the new firmware :(((
"this is the end......
my only friend ...the end"
jarold 28-09-2004, 03:46 PM It's being chased, soon now
morph 01-10-2004, 09:06 AM Greetings from Spain
do we have good news about the Spanish version?
:)
Thanks !
Wireless Monkey 01-10-2004, 02:48 PM This is incredible!!! Telefonica hasn't accepted the new firmware yet!!!! This would'nt be so serious if the phone was fully functional... but the spanish firmware is for the moment a May one!!! It lacks on RF, speed, stability... everything!!!
I'm actually getting angry with Telefonica!!
chispito 01-10-2004, 03:41 PM I received my Movistar X yesterday guys, and it is stable and quick...dunno, perhaps I have the lastest firmware????
And BTW, what's the use of the favaourites panel? I can't get any shortcut there to point to my most used apps??
Any help pr tip? Gracias! :)
Wireless Monkey 02-10-2004, 01:44 PM Hola Chispito!
Maybe you should look what firmware is on your phone. If it's a September release, you have the latest firmware!!
That may mean that Telefonica has already approved the last fw!!!
Saludos!
chispito 02-10-2004, 06:33 PM How do I check the firmware in the phone? :)
How do I check the firmware in the phone? :)
goto extras folder from the now screen, then about then scroll accross to the system tab and its on the first line.
Now - extras - about - system tab
chispito 03-10-2004, 09:28 AM The firmware is from May 17th 2004, the day my baby was born!!!!
stuclark 03-10-2004, 10:59 PM May 17rh - that's old - is that version 1.2.<whatever it was>?
For your sanity, I wish Telefonica qould approve 1.56 - you'll love the changes!
chispito 04-10-2004, 08:21 AM What does it improve?
chispito 04-10-2004, 09:10 AM BTW, spanish guys, how will we know when there is a new firmware? In Sendo's page?
morph 05-10-2004, 02:04 PM hi
yes, only in the sendo page. Anyway, iīm sure the update will be also noticed here :)
I wonder if Sendo could publish a "light" firmware update for all people that got problems with the very sloooow updates from the carriers(Movistar/Telefonica...) resellers(expansys...). I mean with light: an update that doesnīt unlock features that the phoneīs reseller donīt want to unlock but make it possible to the actual customers to take advantages of the bugs solved in the new releases.
Iīm starting to think that TELEFONICA/MOVISTAR will never release another update of the Sendo X or if they do it... it will be very difficult to release another version after that.
This can be a hard problem for sendo to sell here in Spain more phones in the future. Iīm in spanish-spoken forums and all people are starting to say that they wonīt buy another sendo mobile due to this problems.
I canīt recommend this phone now to nobody here in spain, indeed iīm not using the sendo X now(i canīt afford to have only 20% of reception everywhere and so on).
Here in Spain there is a lot of potential customers ... but if the phone doesnīt worth what we are paying for...
I have a little question for all the sendoīs workers: Telefonica/movistar can unlock the phone after one year... If someone like me unlock it after a year.... what will happen with all the firmware updates? I īll be able to update a "generic"spanish update?
I went to a Service Centre in Spain two days ago to try to give me a solution and all they told to me is that they canīt update my phone. My phone is locked by an operator and until the operator gets free the firmware.... they canīt do nothing. This situation is getting very strange for me....
greetings from Spain :)
Javier
Hi,
I dont know what the situation is in spain, but it is actually illegal in the uk for a network to refuse to unlock a phone, they must give a user the abililty to unlock their phone by law.
It may be worth checking out where you stand in spain on this, you may find also that TELEFONICA/MOVISTAR will, like the UK, have to unlock your phone by law.
However I am not sure if this will help you with any firmware updates.
morph 05-10-2004, 04:53 PM Cash: In Spain Telefonica/movistar can unlock the phone after a year by an user request. The question related to this is what will happen when i can have my sendo x unlocked in one year.
could I update the sendo x with "generic" firmware or iīll must wait for Telefonica/movistar firmware releases (as now for my locked sendo x).
Anyway now itīs not a problem for me.... the important question is about the chance to release an update just to fix the bugs without prior agreement with the operator/reseller.
chispito 06-10-2004, 08:04 AM I wonder why Telefónica does not release the new version...it's in Sendo's page so I guess it should be any day now....I hope :)
In any case my X works pretty well, what's wrong with yours, guys?
morph 06-10-2004, 08:22 AM hola chispito:
my problems are: very sloooow menu navigation, very very poor reception (as bad as 80% of time i canīt use it to make a call), strange shutdowns, and so on....
chispito 06-10-2004, 09:33 AM Hola morph :)
I don't have those problems, navigation is quick and reception is good too! Most of the time I have all the reception bars showing...is your firmware from before May 17th?
morph 06-10-2004, 09:46 AM I got the 1.13.3.1 (17 May) version.
chispito 06-10-2004, 10:12 AM Yes, mine too!!!
morph 14-10-2004, 09:24 AM Is there some good news Sendo guys?
Are you still chasing Telefonica?
Do you plan to solve our problems?
Please!!! tell us something!
euphoriauk 14-10-2004, 09:29 AM Ive been advised that they are chasing telefonica for approval, once it has been they will add it to the firmware update site. Hold on for a little while it's imminent.
Barros 14-10-2004, 09:47 AM the problem stays the same if sendo don't place a generic firmware update....
if all the operators be like this one, then it like there aren't updates!
hope this change up sendo's mind
chispito 18-10-2004, 07:24 AM Monday again and no news on the update...I'm starting to get tired of this...I wonder if I could sell the phone...who would buy it anyway...
euphoriauk 18-10-2004, 09:12 AM Sendo have advised they are monitoring the situation closely and chasing Telefonica's approval.
chispito 19-10-2004, 07:30 AM Thanks euphoriak, but we have been waiting and waiting with no official word neither from Sendo or Timofónica, sorry Telefónica.
It would be "nice" if we heard something, I just wonder what's going on...what kind of problems there are, why the "eternal" delay... :icon13: :frown:
euphoriauk 19-10-2004, 08:57 AM Submit your question to them via http://sendo.custhelp.com and at least you will get a official response.
chispito 19-10-2004, 09:50 AM Thanks euphoriak, I have already done so...I'll let you guys know when Sendo replies.
chispito 19-10-2004, 11:21 AM Sendo was very quick...
Thank you for your enquiry.
We are already aware of the requests for a Telefonica software update version for the Sendo X from other customer enquiries. As a result we have monitored the situation closely and feel confident Telefonica will approve a new version very soon.
Thank you for your patience.

Customer Support Engineer
chispito 19-10-2004, 11:38 AM I answered him back asking if he could at least tell me of a tentative date...this was his answer:
Thank you for your reply.
We are in contact with Telefonica on almost a daily basis regarding this and even as we speak we have a Sendo representative meeting with them to try and progress the approval.
Unfortunately we cannot publically provide a date as we are reliant on Telefonica approving the version. All i can say is it will be very soon, so please check the smartphone software download section on our website on a regular basis.

jarold 25-10-2004, 09:38 AM Telefonica have approved the next release of software for the Sendo X.
It is currently going through Validation and should be out later this week or early next - same is true for software for most other Sales Packs.
chispito 25-10-2004, 09:54 AM I think I'm going to cry...;)

morph 27-10-2004, 02:12 PM argggg!!!!!
i canīt wait anymore!!!!!!!! :D
I donīt want to to venture to ask this..... but what will it happen with the new "60D" or "X-whatever" release? the so funny and wonderful spanish customers (itīs a joke XDDDD ) will must wait to the great guys at Sendo to hunt Telefonica to approve them?
I wonder why Sendo doesnīt release(now or in the future) a version compatible with all their customers (you know that thereīs a lot of stuff inside a vendor release) and being able to patch bugs for everyone.
Please, take care that this is not a critic for Sendo....I have problems far away with my Sendo X than all of you , but Iīm still happy in what my phone can be with some updates .
;)
greetins from Spain!
jarold 27-10-2004, 03:17 PM 60D is the release approved by Telefonica.
Individual releases are necessary to protect the extra apps/progs/content that some operators/distributors bundle with their phones.
This position will be reviewed in the future to determine if it continues to make sense to produce so many variations.
Barros 27-10-2004, 03:21 PM hope they don't forget portuguese version this time!

yes I am patient... but just hope to see portuguese in this release! :D I don't have so many bugs as many of you, but still...
chispito 29-10-2004, 11:19 AM Nothing yet...and I bet nothing until next week... :frown:
chispito 02-11-2004, 09:14 AM Still no news guys...:(
morph 03-11-2004, 02:52 PM I think that Sendo collegues is going to shut up if we ask so often ;-)
but...sorry I canīt wait anymore!!! XD
do We have some update of the new version approved from Telefonica?
thanks for taking care of us
greetings from Spain!!!!!! :)
morph 04-11-2004, 10:28 AM This is incredible, I have received a call from Telefonica answering a question I sent them some time ago about this.
They have told me that telefonica can do nothing!!!! to make me able to update the phone to newer versions.
:frown: :frown: :frown: :frown:
euphoriauk 04-11-2004, 10:59 AM hehe sounds like telefonica person who responded doesn't know there arse from their elbow.
It is obvious to anyone that Sendo have appropriate firmware versions available but as they supply the operator directly in accordance with their order configuration requirements that they have to obtain their approval before offering firmware update via the website.
Unfortunately, network operators have so many staff, departments, and procedures this is never a quick. However, at least Sendo are aware and are pushing for the approval.
chispito 08-11-2004, 10:10 AM No news...to be honest, it doesn't really surprise me from Timofónica (AKA Telefónica) ;)
SPEEDMAN 08-11-2004, 01:09 PM that's true;when a copany becomes too big, service goes down.
they invent many new things, older experienced employees go away because lack of communication, and nobody knows anything anymore.
who is fluked by this? The client.
Never change anything when it's working !
me i'm getting pretty worried about this update. As you know, plinky said the end of october. This is 8 november now, which is more than a week later.
where is this patch??????????????
chispito 08-11-2004, 03:48 PM where is this patch??????????????
That's the question
stuclark 08-11-2004, 07:43 PM Plinky said the end of October back in August / September - it's not unually for things to slip slightly where software development is involved...
Be patient, I'm sure it will be out soon...Kev told me last week that they were putting the release notes together and finalising the version numbering, so it can't be far away!
SPEEDMAN 08-11-2004, 08:35 PM let's hope so :)
chispito 16-11-2004, 08:34 AM December???
chispito 18-11-2004, 09:58 PM Guyssssssssssssssssssssssssss It's There It's There!!!! I Can't Download It Now But It's Finally Available!!!! Version 1.98.5.2!!!!
euphoriauk 19-11-2004, 09:24 AM Looks like all the spanish will be celebrating now its available.
xerxes 19-11-2004, 11:13 AM Have any of the Spanish guys who have been waiting so long applied the update yet?
If so does it solve your problems?

argggg.... I sent the phone to a service center! :))) Iīll go on monday to recover my phone to try it XDDDD
chispito 22-11-2004, 12:12 PM Right...update done...the most noticeable thing is that I can choose a theme from two available, so I guess a theme maker or editor will be available...my phone worked quite well before so I really can't see many differences. I haven't tried the phone that much, but I noticed that when you write an SMS you now see T9 on the upper right hand of the screen, something that was not there before, there were like some arrows before and it was a bit confusing.
Anyone else???
morph 22-11-2004, 02:17 PM Iīll try to explain the differences I see... Tomorrow, when Iīll have the phone updated.
morph 23-11-2004, 09:21 AM Iīll try to explain the differences I see... Tomorrow, when Iīll have the phone updated.
I have received my sendo x from the service center i went a week ago (I was so desesperate...and there was no update then). I told them that it was some problems with the sw and perhaps a hardware problem for poor reception.
It is now in my hands with a note that says that the reception is perfect (I have only two bars) and they havenīt changed the sw version that came out 3 days after i left the phone in the service center! arggggggg
Iīm making a full charge to update this morning the phone... and i īll call the service center very very upset...
I donīt know why this things happen ....
