View Full Version : Could This Be The 7710?
Here's a few more shots of what is being tentatively labelled the Nokia 7710. We're making an educated guess that this is the "evolution" of the 7700 Media Phone that Nokia were showing off earlier this year. It's clearly running the Series 90 interface, but we also hear that there's no on board microphone or speaker - it's headsets only for making phone calls. No sign of a keyboard either. What do you think?

I think it is true! I do hope they put a mic and a speaker in it though, but only if you don't have to talk sideways! Hopefully it will have WiFi too!
So here's a question, have Nokia removed the speaker/mix (which on the 7700 did require side talking) to stop the press and preview going on about how crap side talking is... which I think is why we're on a handsfree only, everyone accepts that?

I think the idea is that you will be holding a phone conversation whilst entering or viewing data on the phone screen with the pen, so headsets make sense and they will probably include a basic one in the sales package. I think it will be too awkward to hold as a phone to the ear, just as the previous 7700 model would have been, and with the controversy over side talking with the N-Gage they want to avoid that.
At least it looks easier to use that the voice interfaced 7280.

Removing the speaker is only acceptable if they include a bluetooth headset in the package. Who would leave his wired headset in all the time?

The rumour is that the 7710 comes with seperate headset for voice calls and rotating through contacts so the voice call options are loudspeaker or headset.
Nokia goes music is something they are publishing in near future. This could be the device for that.

Surely this will be 3G?
I donít see the point in producing a device with data guzzling capabilities like this beastie without it!

I think it will! I think it's one of the main reasons they cancelled the 7700
