View Full Version : Nokia 7710 rumours
There still seem to be people interested in the Series 90 category, so you might want to know that there are rumours and an image -- although a very bad one - of rumoured successor of the 7700 which never shipped to stores after all the confusion.

Mobile-Review.com user "gaurav" has usually had a very good insight into future Nokia models, so I guess this one could be true too. And indeed Nokia announced earlier that there will be a Series 90 model on market sometime in the future based on the same media concept as the 7700, but with many significant improvements.
Gaurav speculated that the new media category 7xxx device would have a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot. That would indicate it would come to market sometime around H2/2005, and thus be announced maybe Q1-2/2005.

edit: some typos
Delta737 18-09-2004, 08:55 AM That picture looks very "believeable"! I hope we hear more about this one soon, the 7700 was an interesting concept!
Ismail 18-09-2004, 12:39 PM it probably will also support wifi
GhostDog 18-09-2004, 04:11 PM I really like the design!
From mobile-review:
it is real. the screen isn't blank, the photo is taken in low-light mode. this handset comes with seperate headset for voice calls and rotating through contacts, and also first nokia with standard SD card support. should be released Q2 05 as a upper 7 series phone + voice set combination.
I wonder if you can actually make calls on the device or the only possible option is the headset.
Vicky 19-09-2004, 05:33 PM the design and the looks are cools
it it have mega pixel camera and touch screen then its too cool.
it is with SD CARD.
can we use MMC in place of SD.
i hope that it should not have side talk.
Delta737 19-09-2004, 05:46 PM Side talking is stupid indeed
You can use MMC cards in a SD slot

The sidetalking thing doesn't bother me at all, the 7700 was astheticly pleasing to me.
I had my heart set on that phone (in white) from the minute I saw it, i've got over the fact that it's not going to be released and an now looking forward to the 9500, perhaps it was just the whole new UI that excited me.
I think the "7710" (We don't know that it really exists for sure yet) looks to be a promising media phone, but your right, having a seperate part of the phone that can be removed makes it more a media player first, phone second....not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.
J2theIZZO 20-09-2004, 01:21 PM I've taken that picture and enhanced it with photoshop, the screen has been blanked out, that isn't the back light of the phone!
They have been a bit careless when cutting around the edges, it's clear to see when you up the contrast and brightness of the whole image.
I don't doubt the reality of it, if it's a fake it's an extremely good one, but the screen has been blanked. :con?

i loved the 7700 the moment i saw it 2 but when i found out ththat it had sidetakin i hated
i have the n-gage for almost a year now and at first i didnt mind sidetakin but now its a pain in the a**
i cant wait much longer for the 9500 :frown:
GhostDog 20-09-2004, 03:45 PM it is real. the screen isn't blank, the photo is taken in low-light mode.
the headset is like 7280 system but different design and comes in box. 7710 is not much different to 7700, just a tad lighter. main improvements are in the ergonomics and outer design. S90 software has been up and running extremely well for a long time now.
i.e. can you speak on the main unit at all and if you can, is it still side talking or normal?
neither, speakerphone or headset only, headset is supplied.
No side talking,well....no talking to the actual unit at all,you will have to use the headset.
Vicky 20-09-2004, 04:18 PM No side talking,well....no talking to the actual unit at all,you will have to use the headset.
no this is not done
for every call we make and recive we have to carry headsfree with us.

Vicky 22-09-2004, 09:16 AM soo many days have passed no new new abt this.
Ismail 22-09-2004, 10:43 AM it will be announced in sempeter 23
jazzy1 22-09-2004, 10:47 AM it will be announced in sempeter 23
september 23
GhostDog 22-09-2004, 10:50 AM I hardly doubt that Nokia will announce a media class device on september 23 when their website says: Boost your bussiness image: http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,63786,00.html
GhostDog 22-09-2004, 11:09 AM es of course. nokia has had early s90 laptop style protos for a long time. they were large and unimpressive. newer protos for 96/9800 models are far superior, like ultra small laptops with WCDMA built in. 9800 has fullsize keyboard also, I think it will be big hit when released (very far from now) despite the size I think. Names are approximate (and likely), but you can ask other members here about these research models, Nokia has put lots of money and has repeatedly decided to delay the S90 communicator in order to *not* release a flop and destroy reputation. For now they are playing it safe with 9500 and 9300 combination.
Vicky 22-09-2004, 02:11 PM Very Far from now means.....how far?
is there any picture of the device till now.

ME TOO MISSING
upponalle 22-09-2004, 06:05 PM If they don't announce it tomorrow, there is the Symbian Expo in October, but then more likely at the Nokia Mobility Conference in November.
At this conference (used to be Nokia Mobile Internet Conference) usually new phone will be introduced. The topics this year are:
- Implement mobility into everyday business life
- Accelerate mobile media consumption in the converging markets
- Connect developers to business
and they provide plenty of options for new phones... :D
Ismail 23-09-2004, 09:36 AM well apperntly nokia announced the 6670 and not the 7710

Vicky 25-09-2004, 06:00 PM Hi Ismail
From where did u get this pic is confirmed that it is model number Nokia 7710
Ismail 25-09-2004, 08:35 PM no this is not an officiial picture
im not sure where
maybe www.mobile-review.com
GhostDog 26-09-2004, 02:14 AM The picture is from mobile-review,like Ismail said. You can find the link in the first post of this thread.
it is easy for nokia to change the camera that goes in. current protos are not very good, but there is talk of an OEM deal for 1.3 and 3mp cameras. I think it will depend on release date. If it is announced later next year they may put the 3mp in.
oems are seeking deals and aiming with 3mp CMOS sensors with integrated chips at the moment, they are actually available now, albeit costly and a bit larger and will be in many phones in 2005 it seems. it should be remembered these are basically much denser editions of current 1.3/2mp sensors though, the quality will still not match even the cheapest digital cameras from canon etc.

so... mega pixel cam , no side-talking , touch screen , huge screen , huge stylus ,.... what i read in some other forums is that it supports mmc , it got 64mb internal memory .A huge 640x320 pixel touchscreen, a built-in FM tuner that worked with Nokia’s new Visual Radio service, an MP3 player, and the ability to stream video off of the web. 65k colors,( but you could totally tell that by checking out the images), runs Symbian series 90, has 6.6 hours talk time, 11 days standby time, an MMC (or probably SD) port (thanks Nokia!), 64MB internal flash memory, Bluetooth, MP3/AAC audio player, IR, USB, and tri-band GPS/EDGE support .
Vicky 04-10-2004, 07:51 AM But i think Ghostdog has find the information that it we have talk from handsfree or from loudspeaker
