Just ordered my Sendo X, and was wondering what headphones can I use with it. I want to put use my Shure e3s's so will they fit (standard headphone socket) or can you buy an adaptor?

I have been looking, believe me I have, and to my knowledge there are no
adaptors/converters....

The standard plug is 3.5mm with 3 conductors/poles, the Sendo/Nokia plug is a 2.5mm with 4 conductors/poles... (for stereo out, and mic in + ground)

There are som cables you can by, and probably solder yourself a converter/adapter, but on your own risk... I have not done it yet, but I am
planning to...

I belive you may have to shortage some wires to make the phone recognize
the cable as a "headset" and go into headset-mode and turn off the phone
speaker...

If you solder in accordance with the above, and insert a 1Kohm resistor,
it should be possible to make an adapter from a 4 conductor/pole 2.5mm
plug to a 3.5mm 3 conductor/pole jack connector.

Then you can connect any headset, or 3.5mm jack to phono, and connect
your Sendo X to your Hi-Fi system!! :)

Yes, the Nokia headset also works, though the sound is not as loud and clear
as with the Sendo X original headset (which is pretty ok quality, agree with
Speedman)... But I am also a little interested in trying my top-class sony
headset on the phone, and to be able to do that, I need a work-around! :)

So, you could, if you can afford it, just as well buy a nokia stereo headset,
(or a 3'rd party cheaper clone) cut it off at the headphones end/ or with the mic,
and solder a 3.5mm 3 conductor/pole adaptor... That's what I am planning to do,
since the plug which is on the Sendo X/Nokia headset is a "right angled" plug
(which is just about impossible to buy, and if it was impossible to but would be
impossible to solder for a normal human being). Also, the 2.5mm plugs that you
can buy are "straight" plugs, not "right angled", and if using a "straight" plug, the
phone could be a little but more exposed to destroying the 2.5adaptor in the
phone!!

As after the mic on the headset, the wire splits in two for the sterio ear pieces, would it be possible to just manually attatch and solder a headphone adapter there? After cutting off the sterio earpiece wires? That means the handsfree would still be intact, and the connection to the headphones would just be the two headphone lines to solder to a two headphone line female socket.

This should work shouldn't it? Allowing you, again to add any headphones you wish, in a fairly easy way?

Well, I'll let you guys know what happens as soon as I recieve my Sendo (this coming tuesday I've been told) I've got the solder stuff, and I'll get a female connector and get cracking asap.

Thanks to you all for your great help. If people want, when I get started I could photo it all and make a walkthrough if someone could host it? maybe on these forums? who knows. I'll get to that in a few days.

Since I am definitely not to be trusted with a soldering iron I would be willing to somebody for their time if they would be kind enough to make one of these for me.

I love using the MP3 player on my X but I get a consistent crackle in the left ear bud so I would be very keen to swap for a better pair of phones.

I have just bought a converter from expansys.com. It's designed for the G1000 (whatever that is!) but it works really well with my X.

I can now use my high quality Sony headphones for the MP3 player and still make and receive phone calls. In fact my wife tells me that the sound on the other end of a call is better than with the orignial Sendo headset.

The only problem with the adaptor is that it is slightly too wide to fit in the Sendo's rather narrow socket. A craft knife soon sorted that out. I just shaved some of the plastic off the plug on the adaptor.

Hmm, amazing, somebody actually thought of this!! :)

BUT, what is the point with having the mic that close to the phone?? :con?
(Then you have to take the phone out of your pocket anyway to talk!) :rolleyes:
Or is the cable from the mic to the phone extractable?? If so how long
is it?

Also, is there a volume controller on the mic-unit, like on the original Sendo X
headset mic-unit???

I tried with a Nokia Stereo Headset 2.5mm 4conductor, and it worked, but the
sound was with much lower volume than with the Sendo X original headset !!!

Is the sound with this adapter and e.g a sony headset just as loud as with the original Sendo X headset??

And, I assume that the Sendo X recognizes this adaptor as an original Sendo X
headset so that sound only is heard from the headset and not the phone
when playinh music!?

The sound with the adapter and my good headphones is much better (and louder) than the original headset.

You do have to take the phone out of your pocket but the mike is designed to work from three feet away. I haven't had any complaints when using it like this.

i could be wrong but since the g1000 is e ppc shouldn't any ppc adapter work? (i thought ppc had standardised those connectors.
