View Full Version : Nokia 9300 Picture Carried In Phonemag.com
It's smaller, has a keyboard eerily similar to the original Nokia 9000 Series (check out the cursor keypad!) and the interface looks remarkably like the Nokia 7700's Series 90, but the 9300 looks to be a very stylish phone if the black early 90's Nokia style is something you go for. (Picture at Phonemag.com (http://www.phonemag.com/index.php/weblog/read_more/08252004_nokia_9300_soon_to_unveil_in_new_york_on_ september_8/)). That's assuming this isn't an amusing Photshop

C'mon, there is no way that picture is real. For one the interface is clearly not S80 (like it's supposed to be), and the proportions are all wrong, just look at the screen size.
Well it's late at night, and that UI is definitly Series 90, which I would expect (having used the Nokia 7700) to be powering a "lower" smartphone than the 9500. But yes, it could well be a scrunched 9000 keyboard - so I've tweaked the news post slightly to reflect concerns.
I really need more coffee.

I really hope Nokia will make a device like that - running Series 90 with a full keyboard, but so far the details leaked concerning the 9300 suggests that it will be running Series 80 like the 9500. And that it will be similar to the old Nokia 6310i, size-wise.
That image has no bearing on reality.

This 9300 is just a gag, a hoax there is nothing such as it. Nokia would never release 2 communicators after a long time at the same time. They would want to market one of their communicators first before they release a new product. :o
Furthermore, I had seen the picture of the nokia 9300 communicator. The phone looked alot wider like a smaller laptop opened. The communicator size will be the same they cant make it bigger than that, marginally yes but not in alot of inches. :D
Then again, the photo resembles the old 9000, 9100 series, which is black and an outdated color and so did the keyboard look from the picture. Mind you everything now adays is silver, blue and no more in black. So why are they introducing the black color again in electronics? everything from TV's, vcr's, stereos, decks have shifted from black color to silver color, even the 9210 and 9500, heh. Amazing isn't it?? :)
Also if nokia had a plan to release the 9300 they would have announced it, or atleast put it up in their upcoming models or so on their websites or press releases or whatever. This is just a rumour spread by some people. This was spread before the 9500 was announced to, saying they can name it 9300, as a device named nokia 9300 is a nokia mediamaster and not a phone.
This 9300 is just a gag, a hoax there is nothing such as it. Nokia would never release 2 communicators after a long time at the same time.Time will tell (who has to eat his or her words). ;)

Indeed. I suspect the 9300 is about to be officially announced in the very imminent future...

New info (although more will probably follow today...):
It will only be released next year, and at 700 euro I see no reason to buy a "slimmed down"-version. And what is this "9500 currently hitting the stores"?? :con?

It's official now! Although it looks nothing like the first pics that were shown
Nokia 9500 due out in the UK some time in October from what I hear.

The question here is:
Why release an elite model (9500) and then release a lower model (9300) after that ? Shouldn't it be the other way around.
Moreover, if they are planning just to upgrade the 9210i to a 9300 a bit more cheaper cost phone compared to the 9500 with similar functions as the 9210i, just addition of blue tooth, mms, grps, polyphonic (some stuff) so as not to make it look obsolete anymore, as the 9210i lacks alot of stuff.

Okay I just read the press release for the 9300, nothing more here to be said now.
