It's not broken. They made it that way. In my opinion the SX-1 screen is like that of the P800 that is better viewed outdoors than indoors. Try viewing a SX-1 and a 6600 in direct sunlight and you can't barely see the the display of the 6600 but the SX-1 would still be readable.
