I'm using the version of Opera that came with my N6600, If I download the new 6.2 version .sis file, will it upgrade it, or will I have to pay for the new version?

Thanks

BluePhoenix if you actually registered the version that came on the phone then 9 times out of 10 the newer installation sis files upgrade the current version and keep the same settings and stuff.....

However if you try to upgrade an unregistered app with a newer version then it does upgrade the app but doesnít remove the unregistered restrictions, unless the sis is the registered sis.

Iím sorry that this was a quite general answer but I can not answer from my own experience of Opera, but only of other apps Iíve upgraded over time.

Maybe a bit of a stupid question, but isn't Opera free? You can just download it from the Opera website can't you. The UIQ version is free at least...

The Series 60 version is a commercially sold product. Nokia has paid for it and included it with some batches of 6600 and 7610 phones. Everybody else should buy it, if intending to use it after the trial period.

The one for the Sony Ericsson P800/P900 has been paid for by Sony Ericsson, so it is free for P800/P900 users. I don't know about other UIQ phones (Motorola A920/A925/A1000 or BenQ P30).

The version included in the Nokia 9210i is also free because it is built-in (on ROM). Same with 9500 when ever it ships, I think.

I already tried the community forums, but they seem to be dead.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.1 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Symbian OS; Nokia 6600; 688) Opera 7.50 [EN])

Upgrading works fine :)
