The guy is asking for people to test a game on the sendo x, not test the actual device itself. But seeing as the x is not yet available I doubt he will get many emails :)

Hi,

Well, i've just e-mailed the guy to help out with the testing.
And, as I work for Sendo, I have the devices to hand :-)

Seriously, it will be out VERY soon now. Hang in there guys+gals...

32MB of on-board storage, proper sized keyboard accessory, excellent built in MP3 player (playlists), hot-swap support for SD cards as well as older MMC cards (1GB SD tested OK!), etc, etc...

X-man...

Yes, I do work for Sendo. The handset is being released in various countries, and this is all due to happen ASAP. I am not privvy to the exact dates (not in sales), but it is all getting exciting in the office!

Actually you might be suprised by the number of people visiting this site from Nokia, Sendo, Sony Ericsson etc.

The 4MB of RAM is what is free from the 16MB on-board. Sonic-N and Puyo-Puyo work fine, but some larger ones do not, which is a pain. We are working on it though... Lots of JAVA games and SIS programs work fine though, so not too bad. 12-bit colour JAVA games work nicely too (try some on an SX1 - get greens and blues).

NO, it is "ready" for release, but the are constantly improving the firmware, BUT i doubt that they improve the N-GAGE compatibility, which is in fact an illegal operation!!! But it is NOT released yet as Sendo promised before!

You'll need more than 6 MB to run games properly. Most of the games run fine on the Nokia 7610, but newer games do not run on any other than N-GAGE devices!

The 65k screen is always a problem (ashen does not run properly, Desialles Soccer does not run properly, Tiger Woods PGA Gold is not running, The Sims is not running (main app close error) ...

So the X won't be better, even worse since there is nopt enough RAM to proceed!

But who cares, just buy yourself a cheap n-gage (99 € here) and you can play these games :)

[QUOTE=plinkykev]...We are working on it though... QUOTE]

Does that mean that it still is not ready for release?

No, it IS ready for release. Some of us in Sendo are keen gamers too, and obviously we want N-Gage games to work also, especially as the X has a hot-swap MMC slot (only just available on the QD model).

what about smart movie?

Apologies, missed that bit of the original post. I hadn't tried that software, but just downloaded the trial version, and it works fine with the two demo videos supplied. I've tagged in some images of SmartMovie running on the X below.
That should help prove two things, (a) it works OK, (b) I work for Sendo.
And yes, the handset is sat in our keyboard keyboard accessory, as identified by the icon in the top status bar, just to the left of the BlueTooth circle.
Sorry about the quality, was in a rush to get them done.

I saw the huge attachment keyboard you can purchase for
the Sendo X. Is there anything else available on it?
I can't see doing email w/ something that size or holding the phone keys down.
I'm very interested in this phone. I jusy haven't seen adequate info on typing.

I've been vascillating between the SonyP900, Sendo X &
Nokia 6620. Any opinions on which is the best?
Also, do the features that the P900 has but
Sendo X doesn't make a major difference?

Agreed GhostDog, and sorry. Was just upset that quite a few people are saying the games won't play at all.

On the subject of gameplay, the external keyboard does make intricate moves really easy and accurate (eg: in Bounce for example - did all 11 levels). The keyboard is an expandable version, and is similar to that produced for the Compaq/HP iPAQ, so folds down nicely, and is very handy for SMS's too.
You can even charge the handset while it's in it, so no loss of power when bashing the keys in Darxide :-)

Karyn - other accessories include the usual stuff: spare battery, cradle (quite stylish), bt headset, bt car kit (both very nice with the voice dialling facility built into the X). A USB cable and stereo headset are in the box.

Thanks for the info. DO they come with the Sendo X package?
The P900 has a virtual keyboard built into the software.
Any chance of that happening with the Sendo X?
Or anything remotely close?

I really love this phone but the lack of an intergrate keyboard
is killing me...

I have to make up my mind on which is the best smartphone out there!

Hi Karyn. The actual standard in-box accessories are charger, stereo handsfree headset, battery, PC software CD, manuals. The rest are extra's, to be purchased seperately. However, I have heard that certain operators may be including some items as standard, such as the cradle or a memory card. This is up to them though, and so depends what the networks are offering in your country. Many people don't buy any extra's, so including them would be a waste, and the thought is to keep costs down, and let those who need them buy them, or maybe choose a slightly more expensive pack, that includes it.

As for a "virtual keyboard", that needs a touch sensitive screen, which the X does not have, as well as the Symbian UIQ operating system to handle it.

I've used the P800 and P900 and they are good - large display and touch screen. I just found them too big as a phone, and too small as a PDA, but that's just me, others love them. Suggest you try each one in a shop, and see what is best for you. Price / size / weight / features / battery life / etc are all factors to consider.

Karyn

Thank you. If I can find them in a

Hi plinkykev,
MANY THANKS for all info e news about X...

PLEASE, I have some questions for you:
1. You says "The 4MB of RAM is what is free from the 16MB on-board. Sonic-N and Puyo-Puyo work fine, but some larger ones do not, which is a pain. We are working on it though", well...

IMPORTANT: then, it will be possible in future, through firmware updates, have more of actual 4MB of RAM or more of free 6MB (free max RAM available reading from manual) of RAM for other applications? For example, better consuming RAM memory from actual programs or killing manually some process...

2. IMPORTANT: Always through future firmware updates, it will be possible upgrade JAVA MIDP v1.0 to 2.0? Or, for example, using MP3 for ringtones (I don't know if this is technically possible, though...)?

3. IMPORTANT: Do Bluetooth have some blocks type? Now is it possible using via bluetooth, for example, ADSL connection of our PC home for navigate *free* on Sendo X? For example, Nokia 6600 got some gateway block for this, though now some people have solved programmatically this problem...

4. Will it be possible enable and disable Now! with speed without lost information of info recorded on Now! (panels, customized shortcuts, etc...)? This it'll be great for theme look on our X, then it would be only wallpaper in show... :)

Excuse me for long questions (and my bad english ^_^;; ) but I think that they are IMPORTANT for Sendo X community

Hi Matthia,

Taking each point in turn:

1. We are always looking at ways of getting more out of the handset (speed, free disk space, free RAM), so if a new idea is found, we will make it available of course.

(on the subject of upgrades, the Sendo X will be user-upgradable over a web link and USB cable. I think the Siemens SX1 does this too, but have not tried it)

2. (a) I am not sure about MIDP 2.0 coming onto the Sendo X. It may also depend on our Series 60 licence agreement.
(b) MP3 ringtones are not currently supported on the handset. This may be something we add later, as demand grows.

3. I have seen this BlueTooth / ADSL link mentioned on some forums, but have not tried it myself. I will do some investigating. (someone may want to PM me with setup info to speed this investigation up :-)

4. The Now! screen is integrated into the system, and is a nice feature, so I do not think this will be something we will remove, or disable.

No problems on the questions or the English. I just hope I am answering things OK for everyone here.

Also, has anyone seen this : http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/5055.html

I told you it would be out soon... :-)

First of all, MANY THANKS plinkykev! It's VERY important to know news about future firmware developing.

Hi Matthia,

Taking each point in turn:

1. We are always looking at ways of getting more out of the handset (speed, free disk space, free RAM), so if a new idea is found, we will make it available of course.
Ok, perhaps now isn't very important large free RAM available, but we hope that Sendo then will release better optimizations. For, ehm... better nG@g3 compatibility too :p

2. (a) I am not sure about MIDP 2.0 coming onto the Sendo X. It may also depend on our Series 60 licence agreement.
Ok, can you ask for it, please?

(b) MP3 ringtones are not currently supported on the handset. This may be something we add later, as demand grows.
Yeah, is it possible??? However, I think that there are MANY MANY persons like MP3 ringtones. In mobiles forums, newsgroups it's among first questions about a mobile :) but no one mobile got it, Sendo X could be the first! :)

3. I have seen this BlueTooth / ADSL link mentioned on some forums, but have not tried it myself. I will do some investigating. (someone may want to PM me with setup info to speed this investigation up :-)
Ok, boys here if you can help plinkykev... now I'm at work ^_^;;

4. The Now! screen is integrated into the system, and is a nice feature, so I do not think this will be something we will remove, or disable.
No plinkykev, I think that Now! features is great!
I told if is possible actually (or in future) disable (no remove) temporarily, pressing a key, Now! feature just for a better looking on whole wallpaper during stand by (no screensaver time) of mobile and enable again re-pressed same key, then without lost info and records (shortcuts, calls, etc...) on Now!

No problems on the questions or the English. I just hope I am answering things OK for everyone here.

the phone will me avaiable in 4 month or before,

al least nokia is a serious company that make "quality" phones and don't dely 8 month for a damn smarphone like sendo.

as I am going away to spend 500€ in a smartphone of a little serious company that does not inform during 8 months of the state of the phone and that has only 4 models in his catalogue.

Hi, sorry, I forgot to reply to this one !

Right, here are two videos, one SMALL format (128x96) and one LARGE (176x144)
Other than that, they have the same camcorder settings:

Audio: On
Quality: High
Frame Rate: High
File Size: MMS (just to keep the size down - there are many size options available)

The small one is running at 14.84 fps, the large at 9.55 fps
Also, I used the x2 and x4 zoom modes while recording, so they show that feature too. Hope this helps !

Right click them, and "Save Target As", then play in Nokia MultiMedia Player or RealOne Player.

lot of thnks for the videos.

--------------------------
it seems that to obtain the 15 fps that promises tendo we will have to record the video to a miserable resolution.

I thinked that with 120 mhz and a graphical coprocessor could record to 15 miserable FPS to 144x176 pxls

X-man...

according to the manual (PDF on sendo.com page) there is 6MB of free RAM available. it's true ? I mean it would be great

do you kno, by any chance, when the phone will be released in the UK? I'd love to buy it while I'll be in london (the whole july :-)
