does anyone know if the 6600 is limited to recording sound at 8bit mono sound?

I want to record my lectures with the phone and Erecorder, but it's only got the option to change the sound recording quality from low to high, being amr "or something I forgot" to Wave files.

I guess the real question is, is there anyway to make better recording qualities? is this just a software problem?

I was about to buy an Iriver mp3 player/recorder, so recording with the phone would save me over $300. if I could record with at reasonable quality it would be great. has anyone tried recording lectures or meetings?
