UK Newspaper The Guardian talks about the speed in which mobile gaming has taken off in the last 18 months. The article is available at Guardian Online (http://www.guardian.co.uk/online/story/0,3605,1103881,00.html), and while there are some steps that seem a bit illogical, it's a nice read.

Ha! A superficial and simplified account of the growth of a sub-industry for sure. But it's the mainsteam media- has to be expected. Newsworthiness is the priority!
45, not 18, months would have been more accurate, but since the Iraq dossier, 45 is an unlucky number for journalists:-)
However, the spin is not unwelcome, seeing as the public image of WAP and 3G is fairly low, with reports of delays being far more common. It should encourage some more people towards mobile phone gaming.

I was gonna say I remember playing Doom on my 9210 not long after it's release, though i suppose it counts more as a PDA than a smart phone.
