Hi all,

I'm thinking about getting a N-Gage - it's really going to be my travel companion for travelling to and from work (50 min train ride) so I'm pretty well sold on what it does; the games, music, video etc but wanted to know what it's like to use day to day. Is the battery life too short; is it awkward to use as a phone (with or without the hands free); do you find it too big?

Please tell me your N-Gage experiences good and bad - (don't all be totally pro N-Gage! :) )

I would also be interested if anyone does watch movies on their N-Gage and how you find the quality.

I hope I'm not going to ask you to repeat what's been said before (sorry if I do - I have scanned through the posts)

Thanks for your views,

Hey pixel
Overall i am very impressed with the ngage. At the present time it is the dream handset including everything but a camera, but even that is a possibilty.
The battery life will last on average about a day, obvously dependant on use and whether or not it was initially charged correctly.
The movies are excellent quality when encoded using helix and are comfortable to watch on the 176x144 screen.
The bluetooth compatabilty is becoming more and more useful also these days as driving whilst using your fone is soon becoming illegal and the bluetooth gaming is quite impressive.
The fone encorporates just about everything but the camera which (when i have one) keeps me entertained for hours.
The only major draw backs are; that the phone only comes with a 32mb card in the UK and absolutely nothing when brought abroad, but these can purchased cheaply from internet sources anyway; the PC suite is only compatable with bluetooth, but the USB cable provided allows almost everything to be sent and recieved from the handset and blutetooth adapters can be purchased for next to nothing these days. These are the only two major drawbacks of getting the n-gage, and both of them have a solution.

Though i am a phone salesman, this is no sales pitch. I am truely impressed by this phone and reckon you will be too when you purchase one.

If there are any other drawbacks or positive points about the phone im sure someone else will post them :cough: No. 1 Poster :cough: Ghostdog :cough: lol :D

its a great phone. the battery sucks, as i have to charge mine twice a day but i dont mind. i use mine to play mp3s and the audio quality is great. have a few games and they play well, especially those made for the ngage-smooth grphics great sound. i dont like the directional joystick thing for gameplay though.

admittedly you look a bit silly when you use the phone to call, but if youre a person who doesnt give a shit bout what others think then go ahead.

havent tried playing movies yet but thats what im going to do next?

SABZ, about the initial charging of the battery thing...-do you mean the issue about not fully charging the battery for the first time? because the fuckers at nokia said that that doesnt affect overall battery life. it used to on the old batts but not anymore

The battery shudnt need charging initially, but for some reason does seem to increase the life of the battery from wat ive found. Its not too late if you havent already, just charge it solid for about 12 hours or so.

i am unimpressed with the battery time also, on my previous nokia phones (7250/7210/3300) i would atleast get a few days out of it. even if i have my ngage on standby all day, and not play it, i still have to charge it.

but i have came up with a solution (sort of) until there is a longer lasting battery released. i bought a emergency charger from argos (cat number 271/5111 price £6.99) which helps if your batt is running low, like when your on the train and there is no plug.

besides that i really impressed with the n-gage, as Sabz said using helix makes for a excellent movie.

and the game are good also.

Thanks all for the views, I've decided to go ahead and order one. :D

In the end (from what I've read about it) the versility of the phone far out weighed it's size and it's little niggles. I hope I'm not disappointed!

(I was a little concerned that SAbz is not getting another N-Gage but waiting for the 7700 ;) )

i got the ngage as a temporary phone while waiting for the 7700 to come out. i guess its one of the better "media" devices till the 7700 arrives.

After realising the release date of the 7700, ive decided to go ahead and buy another N-Gage as a temporary phone just like Sexybeast.
My T68i is getting on my last nerve and i never get chance to use the P800 :(

I too am dying for the 7700! but I do love the N-gage. The battery could be better but still is funktional!

The gage as a phone is realy good and works smooth. For games it's awesome to have a game machíne, phone , pda, music and videos with you at all times!

Long live N-gage

Which will be a better phone to get, the 7700 or the 7600???

7700 IMPO

The 7600 is gonna be a 3G fone, so it might not be available to everyone, it also looks ridiculous, and majorly UN-user friendly, which ive always congratulated Nokia for. It doesnt include some key ingrediants for the perfect fone, like: touch screen (which has began to grow on me after using me dads P800 loads), large screen, symbian OS.

Knowing me ill probably like something totally different by the time they come out anyway :D

Woo Hoo!

My N-Gage arrived yesterday, I didn't get it on to charge until I got home from work so I really have chance to play with it until today.

It is such a sweet bit of kit - nothing much that I could complain about really and I love the os, what more could you want? (ok I know there's always more features to wish for :) )

Now I'm waiting for a 128mb mmc to arrive, then i can have some fun with movies and mp3's. I've already converted a short avi which impressed my collegues, I can't wait to show them a full length film!

Still messing with it - there's just so much to do.

What are the apps that every N-Gage owner should have installed?

Well Impressed - if you're thinking about it: get one.

i think FExplorer is a very very useful app for every N-Gage user. you can find it at www.gosymbian.com
maybe there are other applications that you must have o use, it depends on you...
and another must is the games :) play play play and lay more :) this is a must :)
