Firstly i owe an appology to Addario. i hav found my first bug.

I left sonic running in the background whilst making a fone call. When the call connected i found that i couldnt hear the person i was talkin to. As soon as i ended the game i could hear them.

Is there any solution to this? maybe in a new firmware?

Anyone else found any bugs?

Second bug.

Ive had me fone nearly 2 weeks now and im beginning to see a potential problem.
Me fone switches itself off every now and again. Just a minute ago it switched off and every time i pressed the power button it just lit up. So i removed the battery and now its fine.

I havent got anything on it ATM so it cant be a software issue. Anyone got any ideas? Maybe a new firmware might help?

wow i was just reading that sabz and i took my n gage out of my pocket and it was off for some reason but i do have other things in that pocket so there could be a chance the power button was pressed..

i also tried to make a couple of calls this morning but i couldnt hear anything but i think that it was just my phone company optus

also i think the battery indicator is faulty i'll be playing a game for a while it will still be full and i'll think oh great this battery isnt so bad..

then like half hour later its down to 5 then 4 but if i take out the battery and put it back in it gives me a more realistic reading..

but then again battery indicators have never been good in any devices... but i remember my friends old ericsson t20 had a cool feature where it would tell you how much standby and talk time was left on the batt. why dont nokia do this?

maybe this is not a ngage bug; a game bug... when Space Impact EvolutionX loading a new level press aome buttons. you`ll hear the default press button sound. after loading when the game starts when you press the fire button or any button n-gage plays the default button press sound again. not the game sounds. after a while it swiches to game sounds but for that time you hear the default sound.

I have found a bug. I have in the upper right hand side of my screen , no matter what the screen saver, little numbers....06043 and the other 3 chang often... I have tried everything but they are always there... any help#??????

Hi! Is firmware like the OS of a PC? where you can format and install again? or its a add-on software for the upgrade function for the phone? Where can I download firmware? any firmware for language upgrade? Cheers.

i think wat uve done is set your phone to tell you exactly what postal region your are in (sort of a gps system). I used to hav it on the 7650. Havent a clue how to stop it thou, maybe the intrucstion manual will have the answer.

When you have your firmware upgraded, its just updates the software versions on your phone. You can get different firmwares for different languages but where i live (UK) the nokia centres wont update your fone to anything but english.

Firmware can not be downloaded, you will have to take your phone to a nokia service centre and get it flashed, I have version 3.30 and i dont know if theres an better version. Press *#0000# to find out what version u have.

How to format your N-GAGE.(C:,D: and Z: drives).

First make a backup using the memory option from the original program option on your N-GAGE.It will make a backup from your c:\ to your e:\backup\backup.arc.

dial *#7370#.
Additional, after you key in the *#7370# it will request a security code, if you never change before the code will be the nokia default security code 12345.

Note EVERYTHING will be lost even date and time!!!

after i plug the usb cable to my pc, transfer some files and then unplug the cable, i can't see my mmc in ngage anymore. i need to restart it to see the content of mmc. Is it a bug?

it does that with mine sometimes. Usually if ya leave it for about a minute or so it shud recognise the mmc. Or plug the usb cable back it and remove it and it shud appear.

Hi guys! just remember to reboot or restart your Ngage when you have finish a long hours of games. If not your phone will nopt work properly. It will not be able to ring and vib when a phone call is in. Ngage is just like a com, need to be refresh memory.

Another bug I think.

I was listening to the radio, and after a few minutes it would switch to a new station.. The device was just sitting on the desk so I couldn't have been pressing anything

My old 8310 used to do that. A firmware upgrade solved the problem. Maybe itll solve the problem for you an all.

sometimes when my phone idles for too long and a call comes in, the whole phone hangs and it just keep on ringing and I have no way to answer it. a restart solved this problem.

considering iam getting an n gage for christmas i feel that using the mp3 player and radio would be a bad idea don't get me wrong i wouldnt mind using the radio as i already have an mp3 player but a lot of problems seem to be connected to the mp3 and radio like my friend he has had 2 n gages in the last month because of a certain music player system error i even tried to fix it using the reset code but that didn't work. Now my friend has just decided to leave it alone but everything else works fine apart from the mp3 function. Does anybody think that i should just forget using these functions or should i still use them also is their anyway to avoid these problems succesfully advice

well, my n-gage hasn't got these bugs :D It's new one. I bought it four days ago. Shopman said that almost all of the bugs are corrected :D Anyway I had to restart my n-gage... because there was o bug with the radio ;)

This is the second time my calendar entries have disappeared for no apparent reason.I've searched the forum it seems that I'm the only one that has encountered this problem.I'm really getting fed up,I'm even considering going back to my iPAQ.I'm running firmware version v 4.03

BTW: Does anyone know what is the latest firmware version available for the N-Gage.

I have n-gage v4.03 26-11-04 ITA and it hasn't prob w/loudspeaker and note but i can't send mms with midi or gif images. it just says format not supported, cannot insert object

do you have this prob

(my phone was 3.30 then, when i buyed it they flashed v.4.03, i buyed it 3 days ago)

Ill double check but i dont think gif and midi are supported in mms. I think its just jpeg for pics and aac for sound.

Sometimes - only static white noise is comming out. I haven't checked out when exactly the loudspeaker doesn't work, but usually after playing games, even 'Bounce'. When the headset is plugged, no problems arise.

Like always id suggest a hard reset ( *#7370#), but first check see if the problem arises after using a particular application. If it does try uninstalling it and checking it.

I'll try. One more question: I've never done hard reset before, but i guess, thatit cleans all data stored in phone's memory. If so, what is the best way to backup them? Either on mem-card or by Nokia Suite on PC? I've heard from pal, that PC-NS stores firmware too (hard to believe, but is that true?)

I don't know what "PC-NS" is, but the backup does not back up firmware; just user data, installed apps (if you use PC Suite, check the "BackupExclusionList.dat" file in the PC Suite installation directory for what's not backed up by default).

I'd back up both using PC Suite and to MMC to be on the safe side, and then first try restoring from the MMC after a reformat.

I tackled this problem by changing the MMC card and the phone worked fine. I tried to turn on my phone this morning and it wouldnt even show the loading screen, no lights, no nothing

Sounds like you have to send or take it to your nearest Nokia authorized service center.

Hi GhostDog, so did it help? Coz i'm having the same problem as well. Coz i'd be QUITE irritated if it really were Pro Rally since i paid money for it and if it were the one causing the problems i'd have "wasted" my money since it can't work without screwing my calendar which i rely on quite heavily.

I've got quite a few bugs on my QD, some have already been mentioned in the other parts of the forum but i'll list them out here anyway.

I get the system error message for quite a few programs that come with Nokia:
1. Notes
2. Go To
3. Calculator
4. Calendar
The BIGGEST system error i've gotten was for messaging. The system errors i mentioned earlier were corrected by restarting the phone, the messaging error wouldn't go away. Could receive, could send, but can't open messaging at all, so can't read sms, can't check mail, don't even know who sent you the sms. It was corrected by hard reset, so i lost those sms, and i STILL don't know who sent them.

There's the lag problem that i've complained about all over the forum so i won't say more.

Occasionally my phone acts up and my call button doubles up as the ok button as well. This has only happened once or twice for no reason, but those times i received a call, i press answer, but instead a menu opens up and asks whether i want to answer, to silence, to reject etc. and u have to press ok on the option you want again to execute it rather than straightaway answer the call.

I hear the next batch of QD's are gonna be out in Singapore in about a week's time, so the inside story's that these QDs are gonna have new firmware, so i'm expecting an upgrade to be available to QD users soon... the new firmware had better have these bugs fixed... for i am growing somewhat impatient with Nokia... =/

The Rally Pro bug is a bug in the Mophun engine and not Symbian OS or Series 60 itself so there is one less bug to blame on Nokia ;)

I doubt it... i haven't checked the Rally Pro website yet, but i bought the game no more than a month ago, so i'm pretty sure i've got a reasonably new version (if not newest), but i still had that problem, and yeah GhostDog, i removed it and my calendar works fine now. Thanx again! :)

Bring it to authorized Nokia Care Centre and raise hell. And i mean Hell. Make sure they fear you and don't give you f****ng half-past-six jobs and allow the problem to come back.
Do what my friend did, went to the shop, took a number, waited for 2hrs, then the minute he got served, he slammed the table, and said loudly but menacingly and SLOWLY, "i don't want to hear what the problem is, i only want to hear what you're going to do about it and when you're going to finish doing it." he got the guy SO scared he now deals straight with the manager.

:D done something similar. hehe, just hope they get it right this time. this kind of problem is mostly firmware problem right? not hardware?

I upgraded my n-gage from v3.30 to 4.03 and i'm very satisfied! I discovered that, some apps (PhoneInfo, CellTrack) identifies my mobil modell as 3650. Now, with the new sw, they are displaying "n-gage" :) Cool! And there was another annoying thing: sometimes when i started the music player it exited with an error, i didn't know why. Now, it runs perfectly and exits never! (maybe it's the effect of the "Improvements for LFFS" change in the sw)

Do Nokia have any plans to add a fast forward and rewind function to the mp3 player? Perhaps in a future firmware upgrade or somthing? The lack of this ability is seriously annoying.

Another thing that bugs me is RealOne player's very low volume playback of .rm files to the point that it becomes a another useless RealNetworks product.

I've been meaning to post this for a long time.

MP3 ringtones don't loop,there is a slight delay/pause before the ringtone should start playing again.I have noticed a number of times that MP3 ringtones are played only once,after the first playback,the phone continues to vibrate only.

WAV ringtones do loop fairly good but only a few times(3 to 4),then the playback skips a little.I can live with that,the problem is wav ringtones sound a lot worse then MP3,can't imagine why.

I have a prob similar to sabz... see my ngage suddenly switches off when I'm playing games. Today it switched off when I was trying to change profile from silent to general... its wierd.... although it has switched off only when I was playing Tomb Raider.. no other game, atleast not yet

le'me assure u... this aint a software issue....
even my phone switches off itself without warning even though the battery is in a good charge...
as my worthy frnd told that it was due to low battery
i would like to correcct that guy that it wasnt due to that problem...
therez a kinda bug in this phone software
i reccomend u to get it updated from ur retailer ASAP...

and moreover... ngage qd does not boot if the MMC card is inside it...
first we gotta take it out and then boot it up...!!!
can u help me with this???
