I have a feeling I must be missing a trick somewhere along the line here, but I've read and re-read the 7650 user guide. I've read all the forums here, and picked up as few tips. But still can't connect

Problem is:- I've had the service settings sent as a smart message from www.02.co.uk. I open the message; select <save all> and the phone confirms to me that it's saved.

Tools -> settings -> connection -> access points
now lists o2 as a viable access point. but when I go to
Services -> options -> settings -> it's not there to be selected as a default Access point.

why isn't the entry in connection settings available to the seettings in services?

can anyone point out where I've gone wrong.

Is it cos the smart message I received was intended for a 7110?
Surely it's the same basic information details isn't it?

For a access point to be listed on the 7650, you need to define a gateway and a homepage. That was not needed on the 7110, I think.

I'm pretty sure the settings message I received inclused the gateway and the homepage.

I've got the homepage added to my Services bookmarks, but no valid access point has been defined apparently

Are you sure? You definately need to add the homepage and WAP gateway IP address to the access point, otherwise the WAP browser will do just what you explained - it won't show your access point because it is not a valid WAP access point (i.e missing homepage and/or WAP GW IP).

And for 7110 you need the IP address and starting page URL too, every WAP browser needs those things before you can use WAP.

ok, you're a star. I thought it would put two and two together itself.
system works now.
