Series 60 2 uses the Symbian 7.0s OS. Symbian 7.0s and Series 60 2 allows for multiple PDP connections (GPRS browsing and sending MMS at same time), and has better support for international languages. The 6600 is intended partially as a replacement for the Nokia 7650. It is aimed at the business user.
MIDP 2.0 is also supported by this phone allowing for more advanced Java programs and games to be run on the phone. This is also the first Nokia S60 phone with a digital zoom functions and 65,536-color TFT screen.
