Hi All
Have read all the post but canot get any ports other than COM1/2 and IR in the Mrouter window. PCsuite dated Feb 03, W2K SP3, and 3com Blue tooth. Have tried the installs/reinstalls also disabled modem on COM1 also uninstalled Norton Firewall. No difference. Have I missed somthing? I can send files to and from phone using 3com Connection manager and use the Modem. Interestingly besides the Mrouter issue when I try to open PC suite it tells me to connect phone and Press "OK" but nothing happens the only thing I can do is close the program. All ports showning in Device manager.

Thansk A very frustrated Nokia user!!!!

Did you tried to use new PC Suite, version 1.2.0?

Hi there

Problrm is the mRouter in the new PCSuite (1.2). Try to install old version ( 1.1) then save mRouter subdirectiry ( Intuwave ) someware.
Install again new version of PCSuite (1.2). Overwrite Intuwave subdirectory with the old one. Now mRouter should see all available ports. Hope it helps

Thanks for the suggestion but with that version of Mrouter no ports at all! This is the problem I had with the earlier version. It seems perhaps Mrouter is not picking up the ports on the install routine from the registry ?

You need to uninstall PC Suite and 3com software

Then follow instructions in this link

http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/nokia/7650review/p4.htm

I had same problem. This link solved my problem for 98SE and 3com USB. I use version 1.1 of PCsuite though. Have heard that MRouter in 1.2 is buggy.

Doc

Thanks had seen that but I cant get any ports listed in Mrouter except COM1/2 and IR which is not even on the PC. Mrouter shows the ports missing if I disable them so it sees the hard ports but not the serial ones which in my case are on COM4/COM6 in Device manager

The fact that you can use 3com connection manager software shows that bluetooth and usb is working. Problem must be with Mrouter?

Do you have sdk installed with PCsuite?

I'm sorry I cant help more. I'm not too familiar with Win2k or PC Suite 1.2.

g3uiss
04-03-2003, 09:11 PM
Doc

No I have not been installing the SDK option does this have any effect ? Yes I agree its a Mrouter issue or PcSuite as the other "Funny" is that I cant get passed the inital box that prompts me to connect it only allows me to close the PcSuite.

Tony

Doc

SDK is for connecting via cable to other phones, so not needed. Can cause hassles if loaded though

PCSuite won't startup for the first time unless Connected via Mrouter

What firmware is your phone, although this should not be an issue?

You do have Bluecom software loaded before installing PC Suite?

That was were I went wrong.

Hi Doc

Yes have Blutooth loaded during install and phone flashed to ver 4.39. Ithink this is a windows 2K issue or somthing I have on my PC that is causing the problem. Can you tell me if you disable the ports in Mrouter will PCsuite still open as mine wont. I have been assuming this is because there are no ports but if it still opens it suggests other issues. I could partition a part of the drive and install w98se but it seems a long way about.

Tony

Doc

PCSuite won't open for the first time if there is no Serial port.

I'm sure it's not W2000. I've seen many people using it with 2000. Even XP seems to be working now.

It could be something on your PC. I also have Norton Firewall though. No Problems with that.

When you open 3com Bluetooth manager and go to com ports does it list DUN, Serial, Lan and Fax clients with applicable Com ports?

g3uiss
04-03-2003, 11:03 PM
Doc

yes it does and I can use the Modem (the 3com one) I have all showing in device manager (DUN,FAX,LAN and Serial Clients and a Serial Host).
Just that nothing comes up in Mrouter.

Do you know what the registry entries look like for Mrouter ? I could compare them

Tony

Doc
04-03-2003, 11:27 PM
Sorry no idea what registry entries look like.

Have you tried what kreso suggested. I've heard it elsewhere that mrouter in v1.2 doesn't work but 1.1 does if you copy it over 1.2 files

05-03-2003, 09:43 AM
Doc

Yes tried that but then I got NO ports! I am suspicious it may be a W2K thing with SP3 perhaps someone else has had a prtoblem with this set up

Hi
I have using WinXP now for some time. Before I used W2K with SP3. I installed PCSuite v1.1 and 3Com BT. After some problems I get it working most of the time. Because of disk crash I installed WinXp. In the same time Nokia release PCSuite 1.2 so I deside to giv it the try. Result NO GO. PCsuite installed first then 3Com BT SW- NO GO. I also try different aproach which is 3Com BT SW first PCSuite afterwards- NO GO. I all instances only COM1/2/IR available. After last attempt with no luck I cleand my system completly from PCSuite and 3Com BT SW( subdirectories and registry) and start from schratch. Here is how I done it.

1. Installed 3Com BT SW and drivers
2. Reboot
3. Installed PCSuite v 1.1
4. Reboot
5. Copy Intuwave subdirectory
6. uninstalled PCSuite v1.1
7. Reboot
8. Install PCSuite v1.2
9. Rewrite Intuwave subdirectory with old(1.1)
10. Reboot
11. Start 3Com BT Manager and check for the COM ports
12. Start mRouter and you should see all available COM ports
13. Check COM ports for the BT connection (3 and 4 in my case )
14. mRouter may complain that port is in use but soon it will connect

Hope this helps

g3uiss, have you had any luck yet?

i have almost the same problem, running WIN2K and i assume PC Suite 1.2.

Kreso, will try your method - i know my bluetooth is working as i can connect and see Nokia7650 on my PC and send info requests from explorer, its just MRouter which is playing up!

No I have tried the use of the older version of Mrouter but all I have is V1.0 not 1.1 but using the Mrouter folder "Intuwave" etc I get no ports at all!

If you have exactly the same problems there must be somthing in common. I can use the Bluetooth software to transfer files and access through the modem.

hi there.
I have the same problem with the new version of PCSuite (1.2).
What I did was to overwrite the new directory of mrouter on the installer of PCSuite 1.2 with the old one from PCSuite 1.1
This solution is at the installer level and worked for me.

g3uiss
06-03-2003, 09:55 PM
Charral

I tried that a least with V1.0 as I did not have V1.1. When I did that I got no ports at all. Do you know if the "Intuwave" files were updated between V1.0 and 1.1 if so perhaps could you "Zip" them and email me?

Tony

*****Solved*****

To all that responded thanks. The solution was similar to suggested but as follows. Install 3 Com and ensure works with phone ie connects. Install PCsuite 1.0 or 1.1 go to the Intuwave directory and copy the MrouterSerial.dll to a tempoary locatation. Uninstall PcSuite. Install PcSuite V1.2. Now the tricky bit. You need to stop the Mrouter/Connection Manager/Broadcast/econnect programs that the suite runs at startup by using cntrl/alt/del and end these progs or in W2k/XP stop in the services tab. Now overwrite the Mrouterserial.dll with the old version you stored and reboot and it all works!

Happy to claify if needed. The main issue is that the mrouterseril.dll will not copy if any of the PCSuite internal programs are running. hence the instructions. Good Luck...Tony

does anyone have Nokia PC Suite v1.1 - im pretty sure that i can get it working if i were to be able to get this software, but the Nokia site only seems to give you the latest version, 1.2, and that is whats on my CD.

Please PM me if you can help :D , ive looked hard for it elsewhere but thought it should be ok to post this request here as i have PC Suite and it is a free download that anyone can have.

As you only need the Mrouterserial.dll I can email this to you ziped up its only 273K before compression. You can then install V1.2 and copy this over after the install taking note to stop the programs. Advise an email address

Hi Tony

Glad you sorted it out.

I've taken PC Suite out of my Startup directory. I only load it when I need to make a backup. The rest of the time I use the 3com software without mrouter. That way you can send from phone to PC via BT

12-03-2003, 10:53 AM
Hi Doc

Yes I have done the same. In fact when you run PcSuite it loads all the necessary programs so they dont really need to be in the startup directory. One wonders how less tecnical aware users would ever get this working!

Guys,

could you please clarify something for me. The RS60 allows connection through IR and BT but it also mentions TCP/IP, what does that mean?

Am I wrong to believe that 7650 could be remotely controlled through Internet? Basically when we get a GPRS connection - for surfing f.i. - and attach to the network, there is an IP address assigned to the handset, although it's not visible as managed by network (GGSN), this IP adress could then serve as a connection and control point for the handset. Is RS60 designed for that?

Anyone knows?

Bob
12-03-2003, 02:21 PM
This is a private IP address on the Mobile network, unfortunately the public Internet.

Remote control over the net of the phone is therefore not possible in this way.

I suppose it could be possible if you could connect it to your own mobile network and assign addresses from the public address range.

Bob :)

Mig29
12-03-2003, 02:34 PM
I wonder if even i get that subnet IP address set by the ggsn, i'd be able to control the handset, the GPRS network firewall might be blocking the application.

Anyway, this should be investigated further, it's opening the door to interesting hacking I guess...;)

Bob
12-03-2003, 03:22 PM
You could probably develop an application that controls one phone from another phone on the same mobile network as the handsets would be on the same private network!!!

As for Internet access the carriers are acting as an ISP for mobile cistomers to access the net through WAP.

If you connect to your ISP via your phone as a modem you are using the mobile network as a tunell to the internet.

So you could try to remotely control one phone from another, but I doubt the internet, good luck though.

I would just like to go back to the topic of this post and thank Tony and the others for solving this issue. I have replaced the mrouterserial.dll with an older one and now everything works fine. Com3 und Com4 are visible and the sync with Outlook worked!

There remains only one question: how do you switch between online and offline mode? The only way seems to be to kill all Bluetooth and MRouter processes, start BT again, connect the phone, start MRouter again and check the Com-Ports? There should be a simpler solution, but I did not find any yet...

Thanks a lot again,

Glad it all worked. I have found no way other than shutting down Mrouter etc but I have found if you start the 3 Com connection manager first then PCsuite it loads all the programs and does not need the com ports selecting again. Seems the order of events is important!

Ok from what I've gleamed reading through the thread, the .dll is part of the PC Suite, which Nokia give freely on their site so you can communicate with your device. Therefore the .dll should be able to be freely distributed in the same manner to the way the old PC Suite was. I see no problem with people sharing this file, also has anyone with the problem informed Nokia and explained the solution to them?

wahchild
01-05-2003, 02:21 PM

Seems I started somthing when I posted the advice to use the older mrouterserial.dll. Many have requested this from me by PM which I have done. I assumed like the above as the software was in the public domain downloadable from a open site there could be no issues.

I am pleased that this has helped so many and if the file is up here I will get a rest from PM's requesting it!!!

Good luck to all

Hi guys,

1st off, thanx 2 Tony 4 sending me the file, much appreciated.

I contacted Nokia and informed them of my problems and they r aware of the issue and know that it is Mrouter that causes the problems. Nokia r currently working on PC Suite 1.3 and will upload it 2 their site soon. Until then they agree that the Mrouterserial.dll/Intuwave copy over is the only solution.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem 2 work 4 me. Maybe it's coz i'm running XP Pro, i'm not sure, but i've given up 4 now :( 1 thing that was apparent was that when i copied it over, there was no existing Mrouterserial.dll file 2 overwrite. Is this normal, or have i got a screwed up install ?

Cheers guys,

Rob.

Hi

I think you may be looking in the wrong place. The MrouterSerial.dll is in the Intuwave directory NOT the Nokia one. You need to navigate to the bottom of the tree and then overwright the file. NB you cannot do this inless you stop all the Mrouter Programs by using Cntrl/Alt/Delete and stoping Broadcast.exe, Mrouterruntime.exe . Errorlog, connectionmanager, etaskmanager.exe. Then you can overwrite the file reboot and ...should all work!

Do you have the serial ports on your blooth software you should have a "Host" and "Client" . Also you have shut down the Mrouter progra,ms before overwriting. Seems the problem is exactly the same as I had before the overwrite. What OS are you using I have only proved this on W2K SP3 and XP SP1

Tony, I dont have bluetooth software. I have a "Bridge" cable: Infrared reciever to USB. Its a usb cable which i plug into my pc via usb and at the other end an infrared reciever. I know from Nokia they say officially it shouldnt work with this kind of cable, but I saw a friend from work doing it and it worked perfectly, I have to ask him though which OS he has.

I work also on Windows 2000 with SP3 version 5.0.

Before overwriting with the dll i closed down following: mRouterRuntime and ConnMngnmtbox

Hi

You have other problems with V1.1 the only solution I found that worked was as previously posted. Start from scratch. Install the latest PcSuite (Feb 03) Restart PC. Stop all PcSuite programs CNTR-ALT-DEL such as Mrouer,ConnectionManager, Etaskscheduler, capman, errorlog and copy the Mrouterserial.dll posted on ths forum. Restart and you should have all the com ports . You might find the PC objects to comm3 but it will still connect.

the stupid part is, i had i t working yesterday. I dunno how but somehow it just discovered all com ports (thats with the newer version I mean), and after a reboot of comp all was gone.

But i'll follow up your instructions.
Hopefully it'll work otherwise i'm at the stage of smashing the bloody thing by throwing it at the wall :)

Hi

Well if it worked once...Yes I know it is the most frustrating peice of software known to man. But the process I have described has worked for most, and for me on 2 differnt installs.

You will of course have checked in th BT software the appropriate serial ports you need host and client

Clean windows XP Image (SP1)
Installed Bluetooth software (Belkin)
Reboot PC, attached Bluetooth device
Reboot PC, Install Nokia PC Suite (Latest version)
Reboor PC, Configured serial connection with Bluetooth and Nokia.
Killed all Processes for Nokia and M-router, Overwritten DLL in Intuwave directory.
Reboot PC
Check for serial ports in m-router properties,
Just the infrared.
E-mailed intuwave, andcomplained about bad support.
Still haven't received a reply :)
Well i'll keep keep trying (I had got it once so, so it is possible)

I know the Belkin software I have had it working with that. Can you connect to the phone and have you paired the connections. Can you create a DUN and dial out via the phone using the blooth connection.

I found it, I found it!!!
After 3 ghost images i found the anwser to this annoying stupid problem.
It all started when is used an XP image dated 3 months ago. when booting i ignored all the new found hardware and did not install any drivers for them.
After installing Bluetooth an Nokia software, i saw all Com ports!!

Then i re-imaged the whole thing again with a more recent ghost image of XP. NO new hardware found, and started to install bluetooth and Nokia Software, guess what. Only Infrared port. So what was different this time?

Two pieces of hardware were already installed, my analog modem (Ambient) and the Irda USB device.
I firstly disabled the IRda, reboot nothing (reinstalled IRda). Then disabled the modem, EUREKA all comports visible.

I enabled the modem again and rebooted, guess what only Infrared port.
Well you can guess what happened next. (repeated about 4 times, with exact the same results)

I think the M-router software can't list all comports if an Analog modem (dunno if this only accounts for Ambient CLM DATA FAX VOICE modem)is installed and occupies the COM3 port.

Also i'm using the latest Nokia PC suite, and I did not overwrite Any DLL-file in the Intuwave directory.

My advice, disable any Analog modem that is installed, and all comports should be visable!!

Tony, thx for your support and determination!!

Fantastic work mate, you've just saved my 3650 from the bin! I'd been trying for a month! For anyone with mrouter com port problems, try the fix above, it worked for me when nothing else did.

Top work fella. :D

Hi,

I've just got the phone and have been trying to connect & following the strand here. I've got precisely the same problem - PC Suite 1.2 comes up with only COM1, 2 & IR. Bluetooth is working because the phone asks if I want to connect, but then it all goes pearshaped. I've also tried everything suggested in this post. I'm on W2000 too.

If anybody finds a solution PLEEEEASE let me know. No BT defeats the point of having the phone in the first place.

Right. Sorry about the above post I've read all 93 entries now. I'm not techie enough to start messing about with mrouter stuff on my work computer.

Does anyone know where I can get my grubby mits on PC Suite v1.1 to download?

thanks,

Version 1.1 is the same as distributed with the original software disk that came with a boxed phone. I think unless you have that you will have difficulties. If you look back there is a post of mine with step by step instructions and the file to download. You need to be registered to download the file, its simple and free. I think we would run into copyright difficulties if we put up the whole original CD for download!

Thanks ever so much Tony. I've brought the CD into work with me (originally just downloaded it from nokia.com).

I'll give it a whirl today. fingers crossed!

Hi again,

I've followed the instructions word for word. Installed v1.1 (from original CD), copied Intuwave, uninnstalled, installed 1.2, copied back intuwave, reboot etc.

Now all the COM ports are coming up, as promised, COM 1-9. excellent.

Thing is, my USB things are COM 0. So I'm essentially back where I started. Anyone got any ideas? It's so tantalisingly close!!

Thanks again for all your help.

Hi

Go to you BT software and under the serial port config try to set the Host to Com3 and the client to Com4 select them in Mroter setup by clicking the Icon in the task tray and it should work, note it might compalin that COM3 is allocated to IR ignore the message and it should still work. It takes a moment or two to connect.

I downloaded the latest PC Suite from Nokia web site. The mrouter has detected my phone, I can choose Infrared port connection, I can transfer files. BUT Nokia PC Suite would NOT start. Do you think v1.1 of mrouterserial.dll will help ?

I've registered for this forum, but cannot find the mrouterserial.dll file inthis thread. How can I find it?

The file you require is in my post dated 03 July. In an earlier post there are detailed instructions for the setup

Good Luck

Hi

Exactly same problem! This time WinXP, the v1.2.0 PC Suite from Nokia web site. I am able to use 3com software without any problem to move images (files, etc.) with its tools but PC Suite see only com1,2+IR.

3com install everything on com4, 5, 6, etc - ports that are not "visible" for Mrouter.

Do you have more ideas?

follow all the advice in this post - it's brilliant. I'm on Win2000, same problems, but it just miraculously worked eventually when I actually switched the computer off and turned it on overnight. brilliant.

I'm not the expert though.

Good luck!

Hi All
Only one file is needed from old PC-SDuite. That is mRouterseriell.dll.
Copy that file to new installation and PC-Suite 1.2.0 and all the com ports will be visible.
