Anybody else read the review of the Communicator in T3?
Waddaya think? It was deifnately a more educated viewpoint than that pushed in Computer Shopper (though I do get tired of the Brick analogy - sure it's big, but it's easier to carry than a PDA and a separate phone).

Problem is all these people view it as a phone before thinking about the PDA, hell it's smaller than any other PDA, so they can go b*ll*x if they want /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

From my (humble) point of view, i work a lot on sites throughout the country and have to be able to communicate with my contractors as though they are with me, the smallest piece of info can make the difference between getting paid and f***ing up a job entirely, (excuse my French(excuse my coloquial terminoligy and sorry to all who aren't cursed with an English sense of humour, espescially the French)). It pains me to see men struggle with rediculous systems of phone-office-fax-phone-pc-phone-fax again-phone once more to check-pc to log and send as email-and finally DRIVE 200 miles to see the problems at hand and try to remedy them before e-mailing everything off again and phoning to check they got it this time.
I can View all details of a site from my phone.
view all details of the required job, from my phone
view my customer list and match them with the best suppliers in their area, from my phone
send and recieve all details including changes, new plans, new designs, new ideas, new pictures, maps, technical specs, etc. etc. etc, to any office in the world, from my phone
get a detailed analysis of the days discussions whilst sitting in a hotel room watching tastefull t.v. 300 miles from home, on my bloody phone.
The only people who say "oh, it's a bit big" are the vodaphone loving, free texting, flashing aerial buying kids who have gone from walkie talkies to mobiles and use them so they can ignore the teacher and send sms's to each other in class instead of having to write things down and learn something usefull. If we had an exam for sms language the kids would all get 100%. It is a mobile office and i don't even bother showing people what it can do anymore, i just use it. It will be outdated b4 me (and i feel old!!) but it is a world apart from a simple mobile phone. Humans were designed to be usefull in their surroundings, legs arms, eyes etc. So why not have a perfect breed of tiny, pocket sized human that can only perform one task! Is that evolution?
I just did six hours stuck on Englands finest moterways coming home from a job that would have died had i not been able to communicate freely from my office. Good job it was on my belt then!!
Lots of love and laughs from a tired, Guinness drinking fool.
Phone?? I used to have one in the old days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks to 9210, it one way or another changed the way we work & communicate.
the only drwaback is that it lacks some of the most common features and available technologies on other nokia models.
that's life...

I'm just a student. I don't use the communicator as my 'office'. But still you have to appreciate the ease of having and using it. At the moment I use it to type my entire courses in it, don't like papers. View my powerpoints and offcourse games /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif *g*.
I can't understand how people dare to say it's big, big for a phone yes ... big for a pda ... maybe, bigger then a pda and phone? No way /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif I love the communicator, just beeing able to think of something and write it down, email it, sms it, fax it or put it online where ever I'm. That's freedom.

I case I get punished for shifting over from my beloved (formerly beloved) Series 5 and a external mobile phone - I had to do the step forward, because now I donīt need to think about if I might want to have phone access and/or the pda and my most important information with me.
So now whenever whereever someone needs me to make any appointments I can do so immediately, because I have them in my pocket.
And think about it this way Never again will we have any problems on how to configure the ports with those itchy AT commands just to make the phone want to talk with the organizer.
But god How is everybody printing here I am missing the cable connection to my printer...

Until all printers come very cheap, or equipped with ir i will just have to carry on mailing things to myself and printing through my pc. It's very rare that i actually need off screen info personally unless i am at home, in which case i do the above. It can be fiddly sometimes but at the absolute worst i only have to resort to the old ways, so it's an improvement.
The only thing that puzzles me is the fax. I can send a fax made up on my Commu. but i can't seem to find the feed slot for printed sheets!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
How about a pocket sized scanner/printer to go with it, like the handheld scanner that looks like a remington shaver, you wipe it across pages and plug it in to your PC. That would be a good buy for me if there were such a thing for the Nokia.
