Sorry, I didn't really know which section to put this in.(admins please move if their is a more appropriate place)

I am very interested in using my smartphone as an internet heavy device, I would like to use it as a modem for my computer, and to stream content over 3G etc. However a look at the fine print of many "unlimited" data plans for phones forbid the use of the 3g connection in this manor. Seeing as many of you chaps push the envelope on smartphone and mobile internet functionality I want to know if you adhere to the rules, ignore them(and any clues on reprisals from a service provider) or know of a provider who are happy to for people to use their bandwidth in this way. I want to know if it is the done thing to just ignore it and use the data services how I like

Regards

It might be easier to point you to a suitable operator (service provider), if you also revealed which country you live in.

Afraid the only thing to do is ring up the various providers who have packages that interest you, and ask.

Vodafone say they dont mind what, as long as its within the FUP. Although theres a rumour about restricting P2P traffic.
