I'm looking for application for my N95 that will show available WLANs with their SSID, signal strength (in some form of percentage score), security status and channel used.

I'm only after this to be able to do some basic WLAN debugging at home and work (ie what channel to use) and don't need any facility to hack WEP/WPA keys or decode hidden SSIDs.

I've had a look through the recommended application list but couldn't find anything suitable although I could have missed one. I've also tried a search through previous posts in this section to no avail. Apologies for a time-wasting first post if I've missed something obvious.

I appreciate that the built WLAN wizard does about half of what I require anyway but I'd like more detail. I know that it shows SSID, security status but only has rough 3 level signal indicator (unless asking specifically for more details of that particular WLAN) and doesn't show channel used. Is there anything out there that will do this on a single screen for me? I would prefer it to be constantly updated as I move around but this isn't essential.

How long can you wait? I'm just starting a course in Java this October, finishing around June '09. Sounds like a useful app to me if nobody's already done it. Windows is the same in that it finds different SSIDs but doesn't tell you what channel they're on. Drives me mental. It's obvious to anybody with half a brain that you want to know what channels your neighbours are using so that you can steer clear of them, but not obvious to Microsoft or S60, clearly.

Google for an app for S60 called Barbelo. It will give you the information you need.
