View Full Version : Built in Gadgets.
langdona 11-03-2002, 01:33 PM Well the 7650 and P800 both have cameras built in. I was just wondering what other built in gadgets will come out? I'm sure GPS must be in the pipeline. I want to be able to ask where is the nearest pub with real ale and get directions to it /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
What other things do you think they will come up with? /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

hazy1uk 11-03-2002, 05:18 PM My girlfriends' ten year old brother has a game boy with a built in camera and from what i can gather the gizmos' you mention have a system that isn't much better. Sounds like a gimmick rather than a useful tool, and you can't swap it for a better one!
The question is, what usefull products will the powers that be shower upon us, and will they ever be honest with their specs!!!!!!
By using triangulation the phone co. can get a basic idea of where a hanset is being used, if they tweak it a bit and throw up a couple more masts.....who knows, gps?
Thank you and good night.

Nosferatu 11-03-2002, 05:27 PM Well... i sometimes use my Communicator as a torch light... heheheh... it helps when u r in a really dark place... /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
.... funny that. I remember reading some newspaper poll that identified a torch as the most popular mobile phone add-on wish.

SwitchBlade 11-03-2002, 08:37 PM Nik, I'm glad I'm not the only person who uses the 9210 for that. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

langdona 12-03-2002, 11:09 AM Well I've thlough of something else I'd like. A teletext decoder! Access to basic sport and news headlines for free /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
SwitchBlade 12-03-2002, 03:37 PM langdona, the decoder app should be simple, just a BBC basic emulator /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif I don't know if the reception will be any good from the tiny arial though.

Nosferatu 13-03-2002, 05:53 AM Maybe in thousand years not only that it can be a torch-light... but also a light-saber... heheheh... /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Oh that would be really cool!!!

Yep! Go to <!-- BBCode auto-link start -->http//ds.dial.pipex.com/freedom-phones/a9210.htm<!-- BBCode auto-link end -->
By the way I use my 9210 as a torch too! And it's cool! Mobile, PDA and a flashlight!!! hehe /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

whiplash 17-04-2002, 09:19 AM same here too... using it as a torchlight is something useful in times of blackouts!
maybe somebody develops this feature fully, say - make an app that uses bright blank white (or yellow) screen and automatically switches to the brightest... /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Dazler 23-05-2002, 12:28 AM The teletext thing made me think.
Is the hardware of the of the 9210 capable of receiving only phone frequencies? Or can u, by using software adjust the frequencies? If we could, we could have Television on our phones /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
A tv decoder ain't that big, maybe nokia can put one in the next phones /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Then we would truely have a communicator /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

cmatthee 23-05-2002, 10:22 AM I would love something like build in wireless ethernet or bluetooth in the 9210. And the drivers to use this as a connection to intenet.
Or even a external device that plugs directly into the 9210 (like the advertised gps unit).

Dazler 24-05-2002, 02:12 PM To keep it simple, I just wish they change the MMC holder with an SD holder, MMC is to outdated I can't hardly find any. MMC only support 128mb, SD goes up to 512. And they're not much bigger just 1.5 the thickness of an mcc. They're cheaper 2 ;p

SwitchBlade 31-05-2002, 01:21 PM You'll find TV is in a vastly different range to mobile phones, hence the massive arials to get a good signal, that said, TV on a PDA would be cool.
