Does nokia or any other vendor make a phone that can house two sims and both work at the same time? I know there are some phome mods that allows you to switch between the two sims.
Thanks

I know there are some phome mods that allows you to switch between the two sims. Thanks TANKERx 09-03-2002, 10:18 PM IMHO, this is something that everybody wants but no bu**er will provide. Apart from the facility for Line1 and Line2 (both on the same network), I think the best we're likely to get is what you mentioned, something to swap between cards. Thought However, what's to stop someone developing a software that stores the data in a SIM into RAM and use that stored data instead of the card itself? There'd be no need to understand the data (I think), just copy it over and tell the phone to look to that memory instead of the card? But then, I doubt it ould be possible to get two networks to work at the same time on one unit. Would it need two of everything for network selection and so on? I'm just talking out of my bum - it's Saturday and I'm tired! Moka 10-03-2002, 07:31 AM There are converters for some Nokia phones which make it possible to fit two sims into the phone at once, but none is available for the 9210 that i know of. Nosferatu 11-03-2002, 05:39 PM Well... what u need would be something called "Sim Twin"... It's an extra-ordinary new cover that holds and runs two independent SIM cards on one phone... U can check it out at http//www.gadgets-galore.net/Dual_Sim/dual_sim.html Nosferatu 11-03-2002, 05:50 PM Opsss... i forgot to mention about the BENEFON TWIN+... The Twin+ allows for the use of two SIM cards... U can check it out at http//www.benefon.com/eshop/en/list.asp?cid=10 TANKERx 11-03-2002, 06:18 PM Can that phone receive calls receivable from both SIM cards at once? From what I read in the ad "Enable the use of two SIM cards. You can switch subscription without removing the battery and replacing one SIM card with another", this is just a (nice) normal phone with built in SIM card switching (ie, if I have an Orange SIM and a Vodaphone SIM, I can only receive calls from the one network I'm connected to at any given time). What I interpreted the requirement above to be, was for a phone that can receive calls from two cards at the same time without the need to switch from one card to the other.[ This Message was edited by TANKERx on 2002-03-11 1919 ] qaseem 12-03-2002, 09:08 PM That is right, what I need is a phone with two active sims at the same time, so that I can receive calls on either. TANKERx 12-03-2002, 09:50 PM What about using a SIM Twin type application and forwarding from one number to the other (you could set it to 'forward if not available'). The only problem I see with this is that if the SIM cards are on different networks, this may be a high cost solution, even same network forwarding can be expensive..... ...unless you're on Orange where you can dial 330 for 'Everyphone' which will forward to landline and/or another Orange phone with the original caller footing the usual cost for the call. Nosferatu 13-03-2002, 05:50 AM Regarding the BENEFON TWIN+... i'm not really sure u can do that... my guess would be u hafta still do the switching... anyway u can email them regarding this... As for tankerz suggestion, i think thats a good one... CALL FORWARDING would definitely do... And the SIM isn't simply a glorified memory card, it's a computer in its own right, running an OS, having RAM, a (simple) processor, etc.... More work for the poor 52MHz processor in the 9210 to do if it was asked to emulate a SIM! The twin SIM thingamajigs mentioned in this post do not allow simultaneous access to both SIMs, rather they switch between the two SIMs at every power up (at least, the ones I've looked at), i.e. they cycle between either SIM every time you turn on/off the phone. I'm no engineer, but I would imagine having a phone that can access and use both SIMs at the same time to log on to a network/make calls et al. would likely require two sets of radio circuitry, wouldn't it? Perhaps someone more knowledgable would like to comment? Dazler 23-05-2002, 12:55 AM Your phone can use different networks, you can cycle true networks but only one will accept connection to the network regarding the information on your simcard. So I think it would be possible to have 2 networks connected to one radiocircuit. Their is no difference between having 1 network connection or 2, based on me limit comprehansion of the phone network. They just have to check both sim's instead of one. Offcourse calling on the 2 sim's at once, or receiving a call from both sim's at once would give some problems /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif [ This Message was edited by Dazler on 2002-05-23 0257 ] manu_cyb 11-03-2007, 10:47 AM Doubao728 ($170) www gearfuse.com/doubao728-takes-2-gsm-sim-cards-great-for-playas/ www mobilewhack.com/doubao-728-with-2-gsm-sim-cards/ www uberphones.com/2007/01/others/players_love_this_cellphone/ Yulong CoolPAD 728G2 (unknown price) www yulong.com/english/product/index.htm GT Phone 2 SIM Phone (Price : € 399.00) www 2simphone.com/ ELIYA i901 Smartphone news.softpedia.com/news/The-Dual-SIM-ELIYA-i901-Smartphone-46693.shtm www beareyes.com.cn/2/lib/200702/09/20070209171.htm www phonedaily.com/mobile/phone/?prod_id=2585 store pchome.com.tw/mysogi/M00653698.htm Regards, ____________________________________________ Emanuel Stroescu It SOLUTIONS Gmail user BigRoma 26-03-2007, 05:53 PM And another dual-sim phonel is Qool Twins (shown on cebit) The Qool Twins are two phones, one (the 168) a dual-SIM handset that allows both cards to be plexed together and active simultanously (switching cellular networks at the drop of a hat — welcome to Europe!), the other (the T178) adding CDMA to the mix.
